What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? The purposes for which the Corporation is formed are to advocate for and build public awareness of issues related to fair, equal, and reasonably-priced access for the general public to professional and collegiate sports in the United States, including through access to stadiums and sports venues, television and radio programming, Internet distribution, special events, and other means by which sports are disseminated, and with respect to other issues important to sports fans generally, and other purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code or the corresponding provisions of any future United States Internal Revenue laws (the "Code").
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 During the period of July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012, Sports Fans Coalition (SFC) advocated on behalf of sports fans on issues such as blackouts, retransmission disputes, paperless ticketing and stadium subsidization. SFC operated websites and social networking pages updating fans on issues affecting them and allowing for interaction with those fans. In addition, SFC collected letters from fans addressed to the FCC regarding sports blackouts. Sports Fans Coalition met with Senators, Representatives, FCC Commissioners, and their respective staffs. SFC formally requested that the FCC open a proceeding on the Sports Blackout Rule and discussed the rule with Commissioners and FCC staff members. In May, SFC honored several elected officials and an FCC Commissioner as its "Most Valuable Policymakers" in a reception on Capitol Hill. In June, SFC's Executive Director testified in front of the New Jersey legislature regarding paperless ticketing and ticket scalping.
