LATE FILING EXPLANATION
To Whom it May Concern:With regards to the filing deadline of May 15, 2014 for our 2013 Form 990EZ, we have missed the deadline and neglected to file Form 4720 an extension of time to file. For this oversight we offer the following explanation:Our Treasurer, who normally handles our bookkeeping and tax compliance issues was ill at the time in question and was briefly hospitalized. We were not aware of this, and assumed that she had filed for an extension in a timely fashion. She has acted in this capacity for several years and has always been reliable. We had no reason to think that in this instance, things would be any different. Once we were apprised of the situation, we have made every effort to complete the return quickly and accurately. Please keep in mind that the position of Treasurer is a voluntary one. Like all our volunteers, the Treasurer takes her responsibilities seriously, however it is not reasonable to expect the same level of diligence as with a paid employee. For this reason, we respectfully request that you waive any penalties associated with the late filing of our return. We are a small organization, providing a unique service in the arts community. Such penalties would represent an undue hardship.Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. I can be reached at 617-461-6973 if you have any questions.Sincerely,Laury GutierrezArtistic DirectorLa Donna Musicale
