Briefly describe the organization’s mission: The mission of the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches is to create and maintain a favorable business climate in the Palm Beaches. This is accomplished by energetically representing the collective interests of business in the (continued on sch. O) private and public decision-making process, by disseminating relavant information and other services to the membership and by becoming involved in all aspects of community life that affect the business climate. The mission is financed through fair and equitable membership investments dues, special events, and sales of services.

Return Reference	Explanation
Part X, Line 2:	The Chamber is a membership organization organized under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(6), and as such, is exempt from federal and state income taxes except for unrelated business income such as net advertising revenue and sales of the annual directory, which are subject to taxation at regular corporate income tax rates. The Chamber adopted FASB ASC 740-10, Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes. Accordingly, the Chamber assesses its income tax positions based on management's evaluations of the facts, circumstances, and available information. The Chamber did not record any cumulative effect adjustment upon adoption of this standard, nor did it accrue any tax or associated interest expense during the year. There are currently no open federal or state tax years under audit. For income tax purposes, the Chamber has unrelated business income from the sale of advertising from its website, directory and guides. The sale of the marathon in 2009 went into default during 2011 thus ending unrelated business income as reported in 2010 for royalties received on form 990-T. During 2012, the marathon rights were re-sold to another party and it is anticipated that unrelated business income (royalties) should resume in the tax year 2014.
