The AMSD currently represents more than 377,000 students, nearly half of all of the public school students in Minnesota. AMSD serves 35 K-12 metropolitan school districts, 2 special school districts, 4 intermediate/educational cooperative school districts, 2 integration school districts and 4 associate members.

AMSD adopted the recognition requirements for uncertain income tax provisions as required by Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) ASC 740-10 (formerly known as FASB Interpretation No. 48, Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes), with no cumulative effect adjustment required. Income tax benefits are recognized for income tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return, only when it is determined that the income tax position will more likely-than-not be sustained upon examination by taxing authorities. AMSD has analyzed analyzed tax positions taken for filing with the Internal Revenue Service and state jurisdiction where they operate. AMSD believes that income tax filing positions will be sustained upon examination and do not anticipate any adjustments that would result in a material adverse affect on their respective financial condition, results of operations or cash flows. Accordingly, AMSD has not recorded any reserves, or related accruals for interest and penalties for uncertain income tax provisions at June 30, 2014.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11	The organization's governing body does not review the Federal Form 990 until after it has already been filed. The organization's office manager and executive director are designated to complete a 990 organzier under board supervision and answer the questions the preparer has in completing the return. After the return is completed it is reviewed at the next board meeting by the executive committee.
