Part X Part X : FIN48 Footnote Management has evaluated the Associations tax positions and concluded that as of August 31, 2013 and 2012, it has not taken any tax positions that would require the recording of any additional tax liability nor does it believe that there are any unrealized tax benefits that would either increase or decrease within the next twelve months. When necessary, the Association accounts for interest and penalties related to uncertain tax positions as part of its provision for federal and state income taxes. No such interest or penalties were recognized during the periods presented. In addition, the Association had no accruals for interest and penalties at August 31, 2013 and 2012. The Association is currently open to audit under the statute of limitations by the Internal Revenue Service and state taxing authorities for the years ended August 31, 2010 through 2013.

The formula is based on a % of average teachers salaries from the 2nd prior year as computed by the State of Maine Department of Education. All Policies are reviewed annually and either amended or reaffirmed by the Board. Regardless of Policy, no officer can be compensated for more than allowed in the annual budget of the Association as passed by the (independent) Representative Assembly at its annual meeting.The Executive Directors contract, including compensation, is brought forward to the (independent) Board of Directors by its Chair for review and approval and is voted upon by the Board
