OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Senior Services includes Foster Grandparents and Senior Companion programs, which provide opportunities for retired seniors, who are on a limited income, to volunteer and make an impact in their community. During the year, a combined total of 128 Foster Grandparents and Senior Companions served 747 children, at-risk youth and frail seniors. The Senior Residential Services program provided 11,457 social and support services to 922 seniors/disabled adults living in senior housing. The Senior Nutrition program located in Imperial County provides a nutritious lunch for persons 60 years of age and older. The 10 congregate sites provided 56,038 meals to 1,437 seniors for the year ended June 30, 2013. In addition, 279 homebound seniors had 38,724 meals delivered to their homes during the year. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: The Refugee Resettlement Program provides reception and placement services, including cultural orientation, cash assistance, case management, preventive health screening and health education, employment and social services. The services are for newly arrived refugees, asylees, parolees, victims of human trafficking and special immigrant visa holders from Iraq and Afghanistan. The resettlement program assisted 1,467 persons for the year that ended June 30, 2013. The Refugee Health Assessment Program served 2,758 persons during the same period. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Casa San Juan is a shelter for adult females and their children who are in the custody of the U.S. Marshall, Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, or Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Services provided for residents include a clean, safe, secure, homelike environment, meals, clothing, medical screening, referral to medical, dental and mental health services, educational programs and recreational activities. 178 unduplicated adult women were served by Casa San Juan for the year ended June 30, 2013. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: Clinical Services is a state licensed psychology clinic providing counseling and assessment services. Individual, couple, family, and group counseling and assessment services are aimed toward developing and preserving the dignity and well-being of individuals and families, as well as enhancing life skills. During the last year, our professional staff provided 4,023 individual, couple, family or group counseling sessions to 478 unduplicated clients. Approximately 98% of these individuals lived in households with incomes at or below the federal poverty level. The School Counseling program provided long-term counseling and/or assessment services to 81 children and their families. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: Emergency Services programs provide immediate needs assistance to homeless and low-income individuals and families in San Diego and Imperial Counties.Food Resources Centers provide food and support services needs assistance to homeless and low-income individuals and families in San Diego and Imperial Counties. The four Food Resource Centers provide food, CalFresh food stamps application assistance and referrals to working poor families, seniors and homeless persons. The four FRCs provided services for 49,633 households representing 122,918 people of which 35,449 were children. 430,213 bags of groceries were distributed during the year.Case Management provides services to low income families and the homeless population, in a professional setting to identify and eliminate barriers leading to their current crisis. These services include, but are not limited to: assessments, case planning, goal setting, referrals, advocacy, motivation, encouragement. Case Management served 939 unduplicated clients for the year ended June 30, 2013. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 9: Immigrant Services provides assistance to individuals who qualify for immigration benefits, regardless of ethnic background. The offices in San Diego and Imperial Counties offer immigration counseling and application assistance to very low to moderate income clientele. The program assisted 16,784 people last year through casework and group orientation sessions held in a variety of venues. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 10: Special projects are temporary projects that develop to meet specific needs. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 11: The Leah Residence provides 24 affordable units of permanent housing designated for formerly homeless women with special needs. A Service Coordinator is located onsite to assist the women with a variety of social service and skill needs. The Service Coordinator provided an average of 20 support services each month to the residents for the year ended June 30, 2013.
