Briefly describe the organization’s mission: STOP HUNGER NOW IS AN INTERNATIONAL HUNGER RELIEF ORGANIZATION DRIVEN BY A VISION OF A WORLD WITHOUT HUNGER. ITS MISSION IS TO END HUNGER IN OUR LIFETIME BY PROVIDING FOOD AND OTHER AID TO THE WORLD'S MOST VULNERABLE AND BY CREATING A GLOBAL COMMITMENT TO MOBILIZE THE NECESSARY RESOURCES. ONE WAY STOP HUNGER NOW ACCOMPLISHES THE MISSION IS THROUGH POPULAR COMMUNITY-SUPPORTED MEAL PACKAGING PROGRAMS. THE DEHYDRATED, HIGH-PROTEIN AND HIGHLY NUTRITIOUS MEALS, AT TIMES ACCOMPANIED BY DONATED IN-KIND AID SUCH AS MEDICINE, MEDICAL SUPPLIES, EQUIPMENT, CLOTHING, BLANKETS, SOAP AND VITAMINS WERE DISTRIBUTED TO THOUSANDS OF HUNGRY, VULNERABLE PEOPLE AND DISASTER VICTIMS IN 30 COUNTRIES IN 2013. STOP HUNGER MEALS AND IN-KIND AID ARE USED PRIMARILY TO SUPPORT TRANSFORMATIONAL EDUCATION AND VOCATIONAL PROGRAMS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD.

4a (Code:   ) (Expenses $ 9,088,842 including grants of $ 9,088,842 ) (Revenue $   )
STOP HUNGER NOW IDENTIFIES HIGHLY EFFECTIVE AND ACCOUNTABLE PARTNERS WORKING LOCALLY IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES, WORKS WITH THESE PARTNERS TO UNDERSTAND THEIR VISION FOR CREATING SUSTAINABLE CHANGE IN THEIR COMMUNITIES, AND THEN PROCURES RESOURCES ON THEIR BEHALF THAT ENABLE THEM TO BUILD CAPACITY AND MEET THE NEEDS THEY HAVE IDENTIFIED IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. IN 2013, STOP HUNGER NOW PROVIDED MORE THAN $9 MILLION WORTH OF DONATED GOODS BY WAY OF 48 SHIPMENTS TO 16 COUNTRIES.FOR EXAMPLE, IN GANTA, LIBERIA, STOP HUNGER NOW SUPPORTS GANTA UNITED METHODIST HOSPITAL, A 140-BED FACILITY THAT SERVICES A CATCHMENT AREA OF MORE THAN 400,000 PEOPLE. MEDICAL SUPPLIES HAVE BEEN SENT TO THIS HOSPITAL BASED ON THE EXPRESSED NEEDS OF THE HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATORS. ITEMS HAVE INCLUDED MEDICAL GLOVES, SUTURES, ADHESIVE TAPE AS WELL AS ANTIBIOTICS AND OTHER PRIMARY CARE MEDICATIONS. THESE SUPPLIES HAVE ALLOWED THE HOSPITAL TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO LARGE NUMBERS OF PATIENTS THAT WOULD NOT HAVE OTHERWISE BEEN TREATED. IN ZAMBIA, STOP HUNGER NOW HAS PROVIDED SCHOOL KITS AND SOLAR LIGHTING FOR USE IN COMMUNITY SCHOOLS. THESE SCHOOL ROOMS DO NOT HAVE ELECTRICITY OR RESOURCES FOR THE CHILDREN. BY PROVIDING THIS AID IN ADDITION TO OUR FOOD, STOP HUNGER NOW INCREASES THE LIKELIHOOD FOR THESE STUDENTS' SUCCESS. IN BELIZE, STOP HUNGER NOW HAS PROVIDED TOOLS FOR VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS, DESKS FOR LOCAL SCHOOLS, AN ULTRASOUND MACHINE, EXAM LIGHTS, AND MEDICAL SUPPLIES FOR A COMMUNITY HEALTH CLINIC. ALL AID WAS PROCURED BASED ON THE STATED NEEDS OF OUR IN COUNTRY PARTNER. OUR PARTNERS REPORT THAT CHILDREN WHO ARE GIVEN A STOP HUNGER NOW MEAL ARE MORE ENERGETIC AND FOCUSED. THE MORE CHILDREN ARE NOURISHED, THE BETTER THEY PERFORM IN SCHOOL AND ARE LIKELY TO GRADUATE.
4b (Code:   ) (Expenses $ 8,810,049 including grants of $ 279,773 ) (Revenue $ 107,249 )
STOP HUNGER NOW'S MISSION IS TO END HUNGER IN OUR LIFETIME AND WE MEASURE OUR SUCCESS THROUGH THE AMOUNT OF AID WE EFFECTIVELY DELIVER TO SUPPORT TRANSFORMATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS AND THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WE ENGAGE IN THE EFFORT TO END HUNGER. IN 2013, BASED ON THE NUMBER OF VOLUNTEER HOURS DONATED, AN ESTIMATED 145,000 STOP HUNGER NOW VOLUNTEERS PACKAGED 41.9 MILLION MEALS THAT WERE SHIPPED TO 30 COUNTRIES AND MORE THAN $9 MILLION WORTH OF DONATED GOODS WAS DISPATCHED BY WAY OF 48 SHIPMENTS TO 16 COUNTRIES. THIS REPRESENTS A 48% GROWTH IN THE NUMBER OF MEALS PACKAGED OVER THE PRIOR YEAR AND AN 18% INCREASE IN THE AMOUNT OF DONATED PRODUCTS, ALLOWING US TO SHIP MORE MEALS AND ESSENTIAL AID TO PARTNERS AROUND THE WORLD.IN-COUNTRY FEEDING PARTNERS IN AFRICA, HAITI, NICARAGUA AND OTHER LOCATIONS ARE REPORTING WEIGHT GAINS IN MALNOURISHED CHILDREN, RESULTING IN IMPROVED PHYSICAL APPEARANCE, AS WELL AS BETTER PERFORMANCE IN SCHOOL. SOME PARTNERS REPORT INCREASED SCHOOL ENROLLMENTS AS A RESULT OF THEIR FEEDING PROGRAMS AND MANY REPORT THAT CHILDREN ARE COMING TO SCHOOL MORE CONSISTENTLY AND GRADUATION RATES ARE INCREASING. TRANSFORMATIONAL DEVELOPMENT GOES BEYOND SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAMS. THROUGH THE WORK OF OUR PARTNERS, STOP HUNGER NOW HAS A FOCUS ON IMPROVING THE FIRST 1,000 DAYS OF LIFE AND MATERNAL HEALTH, IN PARTICULAR. FOR EXAMPLE, STOP HUNGER NOW DONATES MEALS TO CITIHOPE INTERNATIONAL IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, WHICH DISTRIBUTES THE MEALS TO MATERNIDAD LA NUESTRA SENORA DE ALTAGRACIA, ONE OF THE LARGEST FREE PUBLIC HOSPITALS THAT DELIVERED AN AVERAGE OF 80 BABIES PER DAY IN 2013. ACCORDING TO THE DIRECTOR GENERAL, THE HOSPITAL'S BIGGEST ISSUE IS MALNUTRITION AND HE BELIEVES THAT FOOD AND MEDICINE ARE BOTH ESSENTIAL TO TREATING MALNOURISHED MOTHERS.SINCE INTRODUCING STOP HUNGER NOW MEALS, THE HOSPITAL HAS SEEN A LARGE REDUCTION IN MATERNAL MALNOURISHMENT, WHICH HAS LED TO THE DECLINE OF DISEASE ASSOCIATED WITH IT. THIS REDUCTION TRANSLATES TO LESS COST PER MOTHER INCURRED BY THE HOSPITAL. IN 2013, 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL WHO WAS SIX MONTHS PREGNANT WITH TRIPLETS CAME INTO THE HOSPITAL VERY MALNOURISHED AND UNDERWEIGHT. SHE WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR THE REMAINDER OF HER PREGNANCY AND FED A STOP HUNGER NOW MEAL AND ADDITIONAL VITAMINS DAILY. THE END RESULT WAS THREE HEALTHY BABIES AND A HEALTHY MOTHER. TOWARDS ENGAGING VOLUNTEERS IN THE EFFORT TO END HUNGER, WHICH THE ORGANIZATION SEES AS AN IMPORTANT EFFORT IN ACHIEVING ITS MISSION, THROUGH CONDUCTING MEAL PACKAGING EVENTS, STOP HUNGER NOW EDUCATES AND MOTIVATES NEARLY 150,000 PEOPLE ANNUALLY ABOUT THE ISSUE OF HUNGER AND WHAT CAN BE DONE TO ELIMINATE THIS SOLVABLE PROBLEM.PARTICIPATING IN THE STOP HUNGER NOW MEAL PACKAGING PROGRAM PROMOTES VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT, BUILDS TEAMWORK, AND DEMONSTRATES AN ORGANIZATION'S INTEREST AND COMMITMENT TO SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY INITIATIVES, WHICH STRENGTHENS RELATIONSHIPS AMONG COLLEAGUES AND BOOSTS THE MORALE OF VOLUNTEERS THROUGH TANGIBLE HANDS-ON ACCOMPLISHMENTS. STOP HUNGER NOW EVENTS ARE USED AS TRAINING AND TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES, CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ACTIVITIES, NEW HIRE ORIENTATIONS, SUMMER ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS AND LARGE VOLUNTEER SERVICE PROJECTS. MANY VOLUNTEERS AND ORGANIZATIONS RETURN YEAR AFTER YEAR TO PACKAGE STOP HUNGER NOW MEALS. ONE VOLUNTEER WHO HAS PACKAGED MEALS 4 YEARS IN A ROW SUMMED UP THE EXPERIENCE BY STATING, "THE POWER OF A PROGRAM WELL DONE IS THAT IT BECOMES SOMETHING GREAT TO TALK ABOUT AND SOMETHING TO ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO DO."
