Organization's Mission Statement
THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF GPOA IS TO ADMINISTER, OVERSEE AND SUPPORT THE PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES OF THE GRANT PARK MUSIC FESTIVAL (THE "FESTIVAL"),THE GRANT PARK ORCHESTRA AND THE GRANT PARK CHORUS. THE FESTIVAL OFFERS A 10-WEEK SUMMER SEASON OF FREE CONCERTS, ARTIST DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES, RADIO BROADCASTS, AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS, SHARING THE ENRICHMENT OF SYMPHONIC MUSIC WITH NEARLY 1.8 MILLION PEOPLE EACH YEAR.
Part VI, Section B, Line 11b:
THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAS DELEGATED THE AUTHORITY TO REVIEW AND APPROVE THE FORM 990 TO THE FINANCE COMMITTEE. THE FINANCE COMMITTEE HOLDS A CONFERENCE CALL TO REVIEW THE FINAL DRAFT FORM 990. ONCE THE COMMITTEE HAS APPROVED THE DOCUMENT, IT IS FILED. THIS PROCESS IS BEGUN IN ADVANCE OF THE RETURN DEADLINES TO ENSURE THE AMPLE TIME IS ALLOWED FOR CHANGES AS DEEMED NECESSARY BY THE COMMITTEE.

THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT A CONFLICT OF INTEREST AND RELATIONSHIP DISCLOSURE STATEMENT ANNUALLY. DURING THE COURSE OF THE YEAR, IN THE EVENT THAT AN OFFICER OR DIRECTOR DETERMINES THAT HE OR SHE HAS A CONFLICT OF INTEREST ON A PARTICULAR MATTER BEFORE THE BOARD, HE OR SHE SHALL DISCLOSE THE CONFLICT TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS. THE OFFICER OR DIRECTOR WOULD THEN BE PROHIBITED FROM PARTICIPATING IN DISCUSSION AND VOTING ON THE MATTER AT HAND, UNLESS A MAJORITY OF THE DISINTERESTED DIRECTORS PRESENT DETERMINES OTHERWISE.

IN ADDITION TO REVIEWING THE CEO'S PERFORMANCE, THE OFFICERS ALSO REVIEWED THE COMPENSATION OF THE CEO. THE COMMITTEE USED EXECUTIVE COMPENSATION DATA GATHERED BY THE LEAGUE OF AMERICAN ORCHESTRAS, A NATIONAL ASSOCIATION SERVING THE ORCHESTRAL MUSIC INDUSTRY, TO RESEARCH COMPARABLE COMPENSATION RATES AT SIMILARLY SIZED AND ORGANIZED INSTITUTIONS. CONTEMPORANEOUS RECORDS OF THE DELIBERATION AND REVIEW PROCESS WERE KEPT AND HAVE BEEN RETAINED BY THE CHAIR.
