What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? The Tucson Adult Soccer League (TASL) exists for the purpose of providing a safe, fun, and fair soccer league for the participants and their families. We expect our league members to act in a positive, friendly, and sporting manner. The TASL in turn provides both an Administration and Referees who understand and abide by these principles and ensure that violations of these principles are addressed and resolved.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 Southern Arizona Soccer Coalition (dba Tucson Adult Soccer League) runs an amateur year-round adult soccer league for men and women 18 years and older in the greater Tucson area. The organization's adult soccer program advances the social welfare by promoting the health of its participants through participation in a recreational activity and by advancing the value of good sportsmanship in the community.Each 10-week season consists of seven "regular season" games followed by three playoff games. There are four seasons each year, with 1-2 week breaks between seasons, and during seasons for for holidays. Teams earning the highest sportsmanship points are recognized each season. The league also offers "pick-up" games one night a week for registered players. The pick-up soccer nights offer players the change to work on skills and team up with other players in the league, as teams are formed based on the players who show up on any given night. In summer of 2013, in conjunction with AYSO Region 206 youth soccer league, the league sponsored a short summer season where adults and their children played with each other and against each other. Approximately 700 players participated each season.The league supports field development for the benefit of the community. In an effort to ensure continued availability of fields, the league contributes to development of publicly-owned fields. In 2013, the league coordinated with Pima County to develop two year-round soccer fields at Arthur Pack Regional Park. The fields will be used by the local school district, local youth soccer organizations and the community, as well as by the league. The league continues to look for opportunities to collaborate with local governmental jurisdictions to further develop their existing field facilities or build new field facilities for community use.
