THE ASSOCIATION FOR SLAVIC, EAST EUROPEAN, AND EURASIAN STUDIES (ASEEES) IS THE LEADING INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARLY SOCIETY DEDICATED TO THE ADVANCEMENT OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT CENTRAL ASIA, THE CAUCASUS, RUSSIA, AND EASTERN EUROPE IN REGIONAL AND GLOBAL CONTEXT. AS A PRIVATE, NON-POLITICAL INTERNATIONAL PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATION, WE SUPPORT OUR MEMBERS, WHO ARE SCHOLARS AND STUDENTS IN DIVERSE DISCIPLINES AND SPECIALISTS IN VARIOUS PROFESSIONS, TO SHARE THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE AND TO FOSTER GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF THE REGION AND ITS IMPACT IN THE WORLD. PRIOR PERIOD ADJUSTMENT IN A PRIOR YEAR THE ASSOCIATION RECEIVED CONTRIBUTIONS TOTALING 150,000, HELD IN THE ASSOCIATIONS INVESTMENTS, TO START A FUND FOR ATTRACTING YOUNGER SCHOLARS TO THE ASSOCIATION THROUGH SUPPORT OF STUDENT'S ATTENDANCE OF THE ASSOCIATIONS ANNUAL CONVENTION KNOWN AS THE DAVIS FUND. THE CONTRIBUTIONS WERE INTENDED BY THE BOARD TO BE HELD IN PERPETUITY WITH ONLY GAINS ON THE INVESTMENT BEING USED TO PROVIDE FOR STUDENT TRAVEL GRANTS. IN PRIOR YEARS FUNDS WERE INCORRECTLY RELEASED FROM THE DAVIS FUND, ACCORDINGLY AN ADJUSTMENT OF 6,201 WAS MADE TO INCREASE TEMPORARILY RESTRICTED NET ASSETS AS OF THE BEGINNING OF THE JUNE 30, 2013 FISCAL YEAR AND RESTORE THE RESTRICTED FUND BALANCE OF THE DAVIS FUND TO 150,000. A CORRESPONDING ENTRY WAS MADE TO DECREASE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED UNRESTRICTED-BOARD DESIGNATED NET ASSETS BY THE SAME AMOUNT AS OF JUNE 30, 2013.
