IMPROVED COMPRESSION TECHNOLOGIES WILL ALLOW CABLE OPERATORS TO MORE EFFICIENTLY UTILIZE THEIR DATA OVER CABLE SERVICE INTERFACE SPECIFICATION (DOCSIS) RESOURCES TO DELIVER VIDEO AT TODAY'S QUALITY WITH LESS BANDWIDTH OR TO DELIVER EVEN HIGHER QUALITY VIDEO WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF BANDWIDTH. ONGOING WORK AT CABLELABS IN THE AREA OF NEXT GENERATION VIDEO FORMATS, SUCH AS ULTRA HD, HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE, AND EXPANDED COLOR GAMUT IS HELPING THE INDUSTRY PREPARE FOR SIGNIFICANT ENHANCEMENTS IN OVERALL VIDEO QUALITY.
