PROJECTS ARE CURRENTLY UNDERWAY TO INCLUDE THE DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS FOR DISTRIBUTION TO CHILDREN AND TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

PORT TAMPA GAZEBO PROJECT THE ROUGH RIDERS FUNDED AND BUILT A FULL SIZE GAZEBO BUILDING AT A PUBLIC PARK IN PORT TAMPA, DEDICATED TO MR. ROOSEVELT AND THE SOLDIERS OF THE SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR. MANY OF THE ACTUAL ROUGH RIDERS TRAVELED BY THIS SITE ON THEIR WAY TO EMBARK ON THE TRANSPORT SHIPS TO CUBA IN 1898. MANY FORMER SOLDIERS RETURNED AND TOOK UP RESIDENCE IN PORT TAMPA AFTER THE WAR, AND THE PARK WAS DEDICATED IN THEIR HONOR BY THE CITY OF TAMPA. THE CENTERPIECE WAS A WOODEN GAZEBO WAS USED FOR MANY YEARS BY THE CITIZENS OF TAMPA. OVER THE YEARS, THE GAZEBO BEGAN TO DETERIORATE AND FINALLY WAS DESTROYED BY VANDALS SEVERAL YEARS AGO. THE ROUGH RIDERS SPEARHEADED THE PROJECT INVOLVING COMMUNITY AND LOCAL LEADERS AND CITY OFFICIALS. THE ROUGH RIDERS COMPLETELY FUNDED THE PROJECT, HIRED CONTRACTORS, PAID FOR ALL SUPPLIES AND MATERIALS, AND DONATED THE GAZEBO TO THE COMMUNITY AS A HISTORICAL MONUMENT TO TEDDY ROOSEVELT AND THE ROUGH RIDERS. THE GAZEBO IS A CENTERPIECE OF A PUBLIC PARK AND IS USED FOR SOCIAL EVENTS, WEDDINGS, PICNICS, AND OTHER COMMUNITY EVENTS. THE GAZEBO STANDS TODAY AS A MEMORIAL TO THE LIVES OF PRESIDENT THEODORE ROOSEVELT AND THE ACTUAL ROUGH RIDERS WHO PASSED THROUGH AND LATER RESIDED IN THE CITY OF TAMPA.

FUNDS ARE ALSO USED FOR LOGISTICAL SUPPORT SUCH AS FACILITIES & FLOAT MAINTENANCE, NEW EVENT PLANNING, BANNERS, MONTHLY BOARD MEETINGS, COMMITTEE MEETINGS, HOUSING OF OUR QUATERMASTER'S INVENTORY(UNIFORMS,ETC),FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES HELD AT OUR FACILITY AND COMMUNICATIONS COSTS INCLUDING WEBPAGE MAINTENANCE. THESE EXPENSES ARE CRITICAL IN PROVIDING THE LOGISTICAL SUPPORT NEEDED FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF OUR MISSION AND FOR MAINTAINING OUR HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE.
