| Form 990, Part III, Line 4d: Other Program Services Description | OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Adoption Subsidy Resource Center NACACs Adoption Subsidy Resource Center is the national resource on adoption assistance. The center provides information, support, training, and advocacy on adoption assistance in the U.S. and Canada. In 2014, NACAC staff and volunteers around the country provided information to more than 10,000 individuals about the benefits available to children with special needs adopted from foster care. Staff and volunteers provided hundreds of these individuals with in-depth information and action to ensure that families have the benefits their children need to grow and thrive. In addition, NACAC advocated for improved adoption assistance policies in several states during the year and trained more than 1,000 parents and professionals about adoption assistance. In Indiana, our participation with local advocates helped ensure that almost 2,000 children will now have access to needed supports. In 2014, NACAC also provided information and resources to more than 500 adoptive parents, adoption professionals, and tax preparers about how to claim the federal adoption tax credit. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Public Education and Conference The NACAC conference in Kansas City, Missouri served more than 900 adoptive parents, adoption professionals, and others committed to achieving permanence for children in foster care. Participants attended about 90 educational sessions where they learned how to better support children with special needs, recruit and prepare permanent families for kids, replicate model programs, change the system to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and their families, and much more.NACAC offered trainingin person and through webinarsto more than 4,000 adoption community members during the year on topics such as parent group development, effective support services for families, adoption assistance, transracial parenting, core issues in adoption, and adoption competence. NACAC staff and volunteers also help hundreds of prospective adopters find the information the need to navigate the adoption process, and the NACAC website provides in-depth information on adoption issues to tens of thousands of site visitors each year. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Public Policy and Advocacy NACAC staff worked with others in the adoption community during the year to advocate for federal and state funding of post-adoption services, including through the Preventing Sex Trafficking and Strengthening Families Act, which passed in fall 2014. In addition, staff continued to lobby for the extension and improvement of the U.S. federal adoption tax credit. In October, NACAC coordinated about 20 congressional visits for 11 foster and adoptive parents to discuss the fact that children with serious disabilities and other challenges can be well cared for in families. The group highlighted the need for effective casework, training, and support to ensure children and families succeed. NACAC continues to be a strong partner in Voice for Adoption, a collaboration of adoption organizations educating and lobbying members of Congress about key issues in permanency for children and youth.State Policy Advocacy and Reform Center NACAC continued to work with First Focus to provide expertise and guidance related to adoption and permanency issues for the State Policy Advocacy and Reform Center (SPARC). SPARC supports the work of state advocates pursuing both incremental and comprehensive child welfare reform. During 2014, we completed a series of state-specific adoption fact sheets, highlighting information about waiting children, time to adoption, exits from foster care, and more.
