| 4A PROGRAM SERVICE - FORM 990 PART III, Q.4A | Corporate and Association Programs: Involves the marketing of the City of Los Angeles (the "City") to associations and business entities as a place in which to hold their annual meetings, conventions or trade shows. This activity includes identifying and contacting entities that are considered likely to hold such events in the City. When an entity expresses interest in the City, the Board involves the Los Angeles Convention Center, members of the Board and hotels in presenting proposals to the entity and convincing them to meet in the City. This activity is required under the contract with the City of Los Angeles (the "City Contract") and as part of the benefits received by members of the Board. |
| 4B PROGRAM SERVICE - FORM 990 PART III, Q.4B | Consumer Marketing Programs: involves activities directed at both the overseas and domestic leisure travelers. Overseas activities are performed in compliance with the contract with the Los Angeles World Airports ("LAWA"). These include operating four regional offices for specific portions of the world, marketing LAWA, meeting with foreign airlines to increase the number of flights to the City, working with tour operators to increase their coverage of the City, hosting foreign travel agents and wholesalers on familiarization tours and other activities to increase travel to LAWA. Domestic marketing and supporting services involves development and maintenance of a website directed to all travelers, exhibitions at trade shows, operations of visitor information centers, paid print, radio, and television advertising campaigns and other actions to increase domestic travel. These activities are required under the City and LAWA contracts as well as being part of the benefits provided to the members of the Board. |
| 4C PROGRAM SERVICE - FORM 990 PART III, Q.4C | LATMD Marketing Programs: LATMD Marketing Programs began in 2012 and are designed to improve occupancy levels at lodging businesses within certain geographic locations with fifty or more rooms. The programs include development of new business for self-contained hotel meetings and city-wide conventions, staffing for group meetings and conventions, sales and services staff deployment to sell the City of Los Angeles and various other advertising directed toward consumers, regional marketing, national branding campaigns, increased media exposure, and promotion programs. These activities are required under the Los Angeles Tourism Marketing District Contract as well as being part of the benefits provided to the members of the Board. |
| 4D OTHER PROGRAM SERVICE - FORM 990 PART III, Q.4D | Research and Administrative Activities: Research and Administrative Activities include research, accounting, IT, administrative and management supporting the Corporate and Association Programs and Consumer Marketing Programs. This involves educating members of the media on the benefits and attractions of the City, performing research on the number and type of visitors, and managing the daily operations of the Board. These activities are required under the City, LATMD and LAWA contracts as well as being part of the benefits provided to the members of the Board. |
