Explanation:
The organization relies on its independent accountant to prepare its tax returns. The accountant erroneously advised that a filing was not required until 27 months after the formation date. Upon preparing the 2013 tax return, it was determined that this was incorrect. In addition, the organization is small and operates on a break-even budget. A penalty of this magnitude will cause undue financial hardship on the organization. Corrective action was taken as soon as the mistake was brought to the organizations attention.
