    1 The Rothschild Fund is a Private Operating Foundation dedicated to study of contemporary knowledge and practices relating to horses and other equines. Direct activities in furtherance of the Foundation's purpose during FY 2014 included: -- Resolution of a statutory dispute with the U. S. Food and Drug Adminstration (FDA) concerning the Agency's improper withholding of records requested under the Freedom of Information Act in FY 2012. The records, which document the FDA's regulatory review of an approved equine-derived antivenom product, were ultimately procured through protracted adjudication of an adminstrative appeal filed by the Foundation's board in Q4 2012. Review and analysis of the released records was completed during the 2014 tax year.-- Search and engagement of FDA legal counsel for peer review of the Foundation's Citizen Petition. The Petition, initiated in FY 2012, is a formal critical response to the FDA's approval of equine biologic products for marketing and human clinic 25,209
