PEACE CAMP PEACE CAMP WAS HELD IN JULY AT BETH-EL MENNONITE CHURCH. MELISSA ALLEN AND CAYLA SCHRIEBER DIRECTED THE CAMPERS. 28 CHILDREN ATTENDED. THE CHILDREN LEARNED ABOUT PEACE WITH SELF, COMMUNITY, WORLD AND NON VIOLENT RESOLUTION SKILLS.PEACE VIGILS & BANNERINGMEPP HELD NUMEROUS PEACE VIGILS DURING THE ISRAELI/PALESTINE WAR. PPJPC PARTICIPATED WITH NAACP IN PROTESTING POLICE BRUTALITY IN THE MURDER OF MICHEL BROWN IN FERGUSON, MO. CITIZENS FOR PEACE IN SPACE FAITHFULLY CONDUCTED WEEKLY BANNERING. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, SCOTT OLSON, ATTENDED THE IVAW NATIONAL CONFERENCE IN SEDALIA, COLORADOREADERS THEATERBILL DURLAND PENNED ANOTHER READERS THEATER SCRIPT ENTITLED, "THE DEAD PHILOSOPHER'S SOCIETY." IT IS A PARODY AND SATIRE ASKING THE QUESTION DOES MORALITY MATTER IN LIFE, BY LOOKING AT PAST HISTORY. IT WAS PERFORMED TO A FULL HOUSE IN THE MAIN AUDITORIUM OF PIKES PEAK COMMUNITY COLLEGE.SOCIAL & ECONOMIC JUSTICESUNRISE GARDENPPJPC IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SEEDS COMMUNITY CAF PLANNED TO GARDEN WITH THE HOMELESS AT THE PIKE PEAK URBAN GARDENS GARDENING PLOT IN DORCHESTER PARK AND PROVIDE FOOD TO SEEDS. UNFORTUNATELY PPUG DECIDED THERE WAS TOO MUCH LIABILITY RISK TO ALLOW PPJPC TO GARDEN WITH THE HOMELESS. THIS IS A PILOT PROJECT WHERE A HORTICULTURAL THERAPIST WOULD PROVIDE THERAPY WHILE GARDENING WITH THE HOMELESS. LONG TERM PPJPC WANTS A "RICH FARM" NEAR COLORADO SPRINGS, WHERE MENTALLY ILL HOMELESS PEOPLE MIGHT BE REFERRED FOR SHELTER AND TREATMENT. HOMELESS ADVOCACYTHE BIJOU COMMUNITY ORGANIZED ANOTHER "LONGEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR" VIGIL FOR OUR HOMELESS FRIENDS WHO HAVE DIED IN THE PAST YEAR. PATRICK AND HOLY APOSTLE CHURCHES YOUTH GROUP, D-11 TEACHERS, UCCS STUDENTS AND A PUBLIC ADVENT JOURNEY.
