    THE FOUNDATION HAS BEEN A FULLY COMPLIANT TAXPAYER AND TIMELY FILED FORM 990-PF EACH YEAR SINCE ITS FORMATION IN 2008. ALL PRIOR YEAR RETURNS WERE "NO ACTIVITY" RETURNS AS THE FOUNDATION WAS FIRST FUNDED IN 2014, AS IS PERMITTED BY SUPPORTING LEGAL DOCUMENTS. THE PRIOR CPA ASSUMED THAT TAX PREPARATION WOULD TRANSFER TO AMG NATIONAL TRUST BANK (AMG) WHERE THE ASSETS ARE NOW HELD DURING THIS YEAR OF FUNDING. AMG, ALTHOUGH VERY INTERESTED IN PREPARING FUTURE TAX RETURNS, ASSUMED THAT THE TAXPAYER CHOSE TO HAVE THEIR PRIOR CPA CONTINUE TO PREPARE THE FOUNDATION TAX RETURN AS AMG HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED THAT THEY WERE REPLACING THE PRIOR CPA. BECAUSE THIS OTHER CPA FIRM CONTINUES TO HANDLE TAX FILINGS FOR VIRTUALLY ALL OTHER QUIAT FAMILY ENTITIES, THIS SEEMED TO BE A LOGICAL CONCLUSION. THE TAXPAYER HAS ALWAYS RECOGNIZED THE IMPORTANCE OF TAX COMPLIANCE AND VIEWS IT AS A CRITICALLY IMPORTANT RESPONSIBILITY. THE FOUNDATION (ALONG WITH OTHER QUIAT FAMILY COMPANIES) RELIES ON THE PERSON IN THIS TAX COMPLIANCE POSITION WHO MONITORS ALL OF THE VARIOUS TAX FILING REQUIREMENTS AND DEADLINES. THEY TYPICALLY ACT AS A LIASON BETWEEN THE FOUNDATION AND THE OUTSIDE CPA FIRM.
