Merger	On May 14, 2014 the California Grocers Association merged with the California Independent Grocers Association (CIGA), another not-for-profit organization, the purpose of which was to serve, represent and educate small, independent grocery industry members and to advocate on their behalf at state and local levels. As a result of the merger, the Association acquired 100% of the common stock of Retail Marketing Services, a for-profit corporation that provides coupon redemption services to retail stores located throughout California and administers group insurance programs, which was a wholly-owned subsidiary of CIGA prior to the merger.
