Return Reference Explanation
Schedule D, Part III, Line 4 CJP maintains the New England Holocaust Memorial, a public art installation next to Quincy Market in Boston. The Memorial serves to educate the public about the holocaust, hosts guided visits for school children, and provides a public space for Boston area Jews to reflect on their heritage. It serves as a link to future generations and a commemoration of generations lost in World War II, fulfilling CJP's mandate to inspire the next generation to embrace Jewish life and learning.
Schedule D, Part IV, Line 2b CJP allows small Jewish nonprofits in the Boston area to be co-investors in the Jewish Community Endowment Pool. There is a written agreement that confirms that ownership of the assets is retained by the co-investors. CJP's other funds managed for others consist of charitable remainder trusts which provide a life income to donors and a remainder interest to CJP or other Jewish charities at trust termination, pooled disabilities trusts where the ownership of assets is determined by the trust documents, and funds belonging to synagogues which participate in the Passport to Israel Program to promote connection to Israel by the next generation.
Schedule D, Part V, Line 4 CJP's endowment funds support varied programs in the Jewish community of greater Boston, including Jewish education, housing for disabled persons and employment. They also protect CJP's long-term ability to provide such services into the future.
Schedule D, Part X, Line 2 CJP and the five supporting organizations are all not-for-profit organizations as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue code, as amended (the Code), and are generally exempt from income taxes pursuant to Section 501(a) of the Code. CJP is required to assess uncertain tax positions and has determined that there were no such positions that are material to the financial statements.
Schedule D, Part XI, Line 2d The audited financial statements are prepared on a consolidated basis including the minority-in-interest revenue of JCEP Partners of $43,682,724 and of supporting organizations $154,935. Likewise, the audit does not net rental expenses of 379,151 against rental revenue nor event expenses of $326,308 against event revenue. The total of these amounts equals $44,543,118.
Schedule D, Part XII, Line 2d The audited financial statements include expenses from supporting organizations of $1,105,722 as well as rental expenses of $379,151 and event expenses of $326,308. The total of these adjustments equals $1,811,181.

Return Reference Explanation
Schedule K, Part III, Line 9-11/05/2003 6,626,960 Massachusetts Development Finance Agency CJP does not have written procedures to remediate the status of any bonds that are jeopardized because it actively monitors activities in the building financed with tax exempt debt to insure that the bonds are not jeopardized and that no remediation is required.
Schedule K, Part IV, Line 2c-11/05/2003 6,626,960 Massachusetts Development Finance Agency Annually AMTEC performs a rebate calculation at CJP's request. The date of the rebate computation that showed no rebate was due was February 20, 2014.
Schedule K, Part IV, Line 7-11/05/2003 6,626,960 Massachusetts Development Finance Agency Although CJP does not have separate written procedures, CJP complies with the annual review and testing required by the trust document that governs the tax exempt bonds, engages a specialist to perform the required rebate computation, and consults bond counsel on all matters that might affect the status of the property financed with tax-exempt debt.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 2 Robert Small and Bradley Bloom are employed by the same firm.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The Form 990 is prepared by CJP management, reviewed by CJP's audit firm, and then reviewed by CJP's Audit Committee, a standing committee of the Board of Directors. Prior to filing, the 990, except for Schedule B, is provided to all of the Board members and presented for questions and comment at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Directors. In recognition of the Jewish tradition of anonymous philanthropy and out of respect for the confidential nature of the philanthropy of our donors, CJP's Board of Directors has voted to delegate the responsibility for review of Schedule B to the Chair of the Board. The Chair of the Board reviewed the Schedule B at the April 24, 2015 meeting of the Board of Directors prior to the filing of the return.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c Annually questionnaires are sent to the Board of Directors, Officers and key employees. The responses are returned and are reviewed by the CFO and Assistant Secretary to identify if any respondent knows of a potential conflict of interest or of a family member at a firm with which CJP does business. Any such conflicts are reported to the Chair of the Board by the CFO. The Assistant Secretary ensures any conflict involving the CFO is disclosed to the Chair of the Board. Interested persons recuse themselves from the decision-making process for related party transactions. All transactions with firms associated with board members are made at arms length and on terms that are normal and customary for the industry. No transactions exceeded the threshold for disclosure on Schedule L.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 CJP has a committee on Organizational Development. Comprised of board members, this committee reviews the compensation of all officers and key personnel including the President, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, Senior VP & Chief Financial Officer, Senior VP of Development, VP of Marketing and VP of Human Resources. Comparative salary information is obtained from multiple sources, including the Jewish Federations of North America, an umbrella organization that aggregates information from many federations nationally. This review is conducted annually. The minutes of the Organizational Development committee are recorded contemporaneously. Compensation is ultimately approved by the Board of Directors as part of the budget preparation and review process.
Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 CJP's organizing documents are available online at the web site of the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The audited financial statements, the 990 and 990-T are available on CJP's website. The 990 is also available online at www.Guidestar.org.
Form 990, Part VII, Section A, Line 1a CJP's Board of Directors serve a term that begins September 1st. The following directors, denoted by an asterisk, ended their terms on August 31, 2013: * Jonathan Chiel, *Stephen D Lebovitz, *Ronald Shaich, *Jennifer Silver,*Carl S Sloane, *Adam J Weiner. The following directors began their terms September 1, 2013: Amanda Clayman, Daniel S Farb, Elizabeth Jick, Aviva E Sapers, Douglass E Karp, Dale S Okonow.
Form 990, Part XI, Line 9 On July 1, 2013 CJP acquired the Jewish Federation of the North Shore which added $3,448,779 to net assets. CJP also received returned grants issued in the prior year of $6,525.
