What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? The Association provides wireless internet service to its members who live and work in rural areas of Santa Fe county, New Mexico through a non-profit member-owned and operated community cooperative.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 Because the members are also the owners, the membership chooses how to meet its needs, including but not limited to: determining membership fees, bandwidth purchased and delivered, infrastructure equipment purchased, coverage areas and management. All work involved in designing, constructing and maintaining the network is performed by volunteers and one technical consultant. In 2014, the membership grew from 375 members to 400 members. 100 percent of the revenue received by the Association is from the membership as no sales are made to non-members. During 2014 the Association continued to provide good internet service to its members through upgrading its wireless radio equipment, forming additional committees to respond quickly to telephone calls to the 800 Technical Support Line, creating an automated way to telephone specific members affected by programmed and unprogrammed outages, and maintaining reasonable fees which both permitted all bills to be paid and allowed a small reserve fund to be created.
