Information about Schedule O (Form 990 or 990-EZ) and its instructions is at| Return Reference | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Pt VI, Line 6 | Individuals and organizations become members by paying dues annually. |
| Pt VI, Line 7a | Members elect the board of directors. |
| Pt VI, Line 11b | The 990 was mailed to board members for a comment period with a request that either an approval or with additions/corrections. Responses were summarized and any changes were forwarded to the tax preparer for inclusion in the final return. |
| Pt VI, Line 1a | Jeffrey Ordower was the executive director of the organization and also the assistant secretary of the board, mainly to facilitate signing documents from time to time. Missouri law allows an employee to be a board member. He was not paid for his officer duties nor can he vote as a board member. |
| Pt VI, Line 19 | Our governing documents and 990's are available to the public upon request. |
| Pt VI, Line 15a | and Pt. VI, Line 15b - The executive director and board members annually review staff salaries of organizations in the metro area to determine that the M.O.R.E. staff salaries are comparable. Budgetary limits are also taken into consideration when determining staff salaries. The executive director's salary is under market value and provided unpaid time to provide more funds for program work. |
| Pt VI, Line 15b | See comment above. |
| Other | Pt. VIII and Pt. IX - In-kind services and rent - The executive director offered his services at below market to the organization. The in-kind value of his services is estimated at $22,800. Since this is an in-kind contribution of services, the amount is not included in the revenue or expenses in Parts VIII and IX per 990 instructions. Likewise, the office space was donated, but the value cannot be included in the 990 revenue or expenses. Due to these two factors, the management and fundraising expenses are considerable below the amounts that an organization with comparable revenue would have. |
| Pt III, Line 2 | The organization utilized a substantial portion of its efforts in 2014 on the program noted on the Statement of Program Accomplishments as "Racial Justice". Work on this issue will continue in future years. |
| Other | Pt.VI-12,13, and 14 - The board is contemplating the adoption of these documents but has not done so yet. |
