What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? The purposes for which the Corporation is formed are to advocate for and build public awareness of issues related to fair, equal, and reasonably-priced access for the general public to professional and collegiate sports in the United States, including through access to stadiums and sports venues, television and radio programming, Internet distribution, special events, and other means by which sports are disseminated, and with respect to other issues important to sports fans generally, and other purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code or the corresponding provisions of any future United States Internal Revenue laws (the "Code").
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 During the period of July 1, 2013 through June 30th, 2014, Sports Fans Coalition (SFC) continued its ultimately successful advocacy before the FCC to end the so-called "sports blackout rule" (later eliminated by unanimous vote). SFC also advocated on behalf of sports fans on other issues, including the loss of sports events due to retransmission consent disputes, paperless ticket resale, taxpayer stadium subsidization, and restriction of sports video distribution as a result of consolidation in the cable TV industry (i.e., merger opposition). SFC operated websites and social networking pages, updating fans on issues affecting them and allowing interaction with those fans. SFC met with U.S. Senators and House Members, FCC Commissioners, Dept. of Justice Antitrust Division leaders, and their respective staffs.
