| ORGANIZATION'S MISSION AND MOST SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES | FORM 990, PART III - 2014 REPORT The mission of Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers is to improve the health of area residents. This is the focal point that steers strategy and decision making and gives meaning and focus to staff as they go about their daily work. As long as our actions and activities are focused on improving the health of area residents, we know that we are doing what's right for our community. Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers' 2014 year-end quality, service and financial outcomes demonstrated that success is achievable as in independent, stand alone community hospital. Here is a summary of accomplishments from 2014: Morris Hospital was re-accredited by the Health Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) following a four-day survey in February 2014. Successful transition was made with the conversion to electronic medical records in the Immediate Care setting, an important patient safety initiative that enhances documentation and discharge instructions, reduces medication errors, and speeds the availability of the medical record in other systems. The 11,888 square foot Morris Hospital Yorkville Campus opened April 7 with immediate care, laboratory, x-ray, ultrasound, CT and occupational medicine services, bringing much needed health services to the south side of Yorkville. By September, physical therapy and primary care physician services were added to the Yorkville Campus. In the interest of helping young people learn more about healthcare careers, Morris Hospital became a Health and Medical Explorer Post in collaboration with the Boy Scouts. Physical Therapy services were added to the Morris Hospital Ridge Road Campus in Channahon. Later in the year, Physical Therapy services was launched at the Yorkville Campus, making three locations for Morris Hospital outpatient physical therapy. The Cardiology Department was awarded a voluntary, three-year re-accreditation for adult transthoracic and adult stress echocardiography from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission. In response to changes in the delivery of healthcare, Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers added its first Evidence Based Practice RN and Nurse Navigator to the team. Morris Hospital launched a patient portal to give patients access to their health record through a secure portal on the hospital's website. Internal Medicine physician Dr. Charles Comfort affiliated his practice with Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers, resulting in a new Morris Hospital Healthcare Center in Mazon. The Morris Hospital Allergy Specialists practice was created, featuring Dr. Hetal Amin, board certified allergist, with office locations at the Ridge Road and Yorkville Campuses. For the sixth consecutive time, Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers receivedan "A" rating on the Leapfrog Group's Hospital Safety Score report, placing Morris Hospital in an elite group of hospitals across the nation. Morris Hospital welcomed its first Care Coordinator as preparations are made to form an Accountable Care Organization. The Morris Hospital Cardiovascular Specialists practice expanded with the addition of Dr. Athar Saeed, board certified cardiologist. The practice now has office locations in Morris, Channahon, Dwight and Ottawa. The Morris Hospital Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists practice expanded with the addition of Dr. Jody De Lind, obstetrician/gynecologist. The addition of Dr. De Lind allowed the practice to expand office hours in Ottawa and Channahon. Morris Hospital and the Morris Community YMCA announced the formation of a new partnership that will enhance the health and wellness of Grundy County residents. |
