Statement of Program Accomplishments:Accessibility We are committed to accessibility in the arts in all of our projects, classrooms, workshops and productions by having adequate wheelchair seating, audio describers, Braille programs, Sorenson video interpreting and sign language interpreters. We successfully employed five persons with disabilities and three AmeriCorps members with disabilities during the past year and supported their employment/service through equipment purchases, audio description, Braille materials and reasonable accommodations. Achievements and Recognitions We celebrated our 29th year of service to the Tucson community. We ran our second year of our fourth three year contract with Corporation for National and Community Service for AmeriCorps State members. This contract is for September 01, 2012 August 31, 2015 with yearly renewals and is for 10 full-time slots. For this three year contract we decided to opt for a fixed grant contract which allows us to draw down funding monthly for the AmeriCorps members living allowance only. It makes our accounting easier as we only need to account for the members hours. This year we were awarded a grant from Community Foundation of Southern Arizona for our Teens in Childcare Training Program. This summer we trained 36 youth in childcare from Tucson Urban League, Pima County Summer Youth Program, AZ Department of Economic Security/Division of Developmental Disabilities and youth who came on their own who were not affiliated with any agency. Some of these youth will continue to volunteer throughout the year. Administration At the beginning of the year, July 1, 2013 there were four full-time administrative staff executive director, assistant director, administrative assistant and accountant. The positions of executive director, assistant director and accountant were filled by the same individuals all year. We had an administrative assistant, Stephanie Toggerson, for the first month of the year and then she applied and was accepted for the position of childrens services manager. The Director of Human Services supervised the adult and children services. There was no reduction in staff salaries or wages during this fiscal year and a few of the hourly direct support professionals received raises following their annual evaluations. During times without some of the administrative and management staff, the executive and assistant directors completed the necessary tasks by working overtime. The manager positions are responsible for recommending for hire, training, supervising and evaluating direct care staff (direct support professionals) as well as coordinate the services for adults and/or children. Some of the direct support professionals are registering with the National Association of Direct Support Professionals after six months and after two years of employment were eligible for certification. Full-time employees received paid holidays, vacation and sick leave as well as health insurance, retirement and elective benefits. Continuing education/training is an important aspect of employment at Arts for All, Inc. and the 20 hours/year requirement by Childcare Licensure is adhered to throughout all departments. We have just completed our second audit with Jennifer Phillips, CPA, LLC. After-School Classes The after-school classes were the first project that Third St. Kids opened in 1985. There was and continues to be a tremendous need in the community for creative programs that include children with disabilities and for those from low income homes. A minimum of two daily classes were held in the afternoons from August through May. Students attended from throughout the greater Tucson area. Scholarships were given to low income families. Some of these families were staff members. One of the ways that we can help our staff is by providing childcare. Twelve staff members enrolled their children in preschool, out-of-school time and/or Summer Arts Camp and all really appreciated it. Flyers went out to schools, clinics, libraries, doctors offices, etc. around town. Arts We have participated in community arts events including the 10th Gallery exhibit at Epic Café in January. Better Business Bureau had and continues to have a gallery of paintings by our students. Two exhibits were held at the Downtown library one 2D and one 3D. Greeting cards and prints were sold throughout the year. The 9th Arts Calendar was produced. No youth productions were held this year as we did not find a director. The Adult Dance Ensemble held performances at Zuzis and at Arts for Alls Little Theatre for families and friends. Board and Board Development We have been actively looking to diversify as well as increase the number of board members. At the beginning of the year there were four board members and eleven advisory board members. At the end of the year there were six board members and ten advisory board members. The financial committee met monthly. The 2012-2014 Strategic Plan expired in June, 2014. The Patrick and Betsy Barrasso/In Balance Scholarship Fund continued with a $10,000 gift from the Barrassos. Building This is the 13th year in our own facility. There have been routine repairs and maintenance done to assure the longevity of the facility. The building emergency fund of $25,000 and the land acquisition fund of $28,000 as designated by the Board totaling $53,000 was used for payroll in the Fall of 2008 and had major repairs written off against this amount. 2012-2013 audit had $27,297 remaining and 2013-2014 had $25,334 remaining. Day Program Our Day Treatment and Training Program which started in 1998 has grown consistently. 63 adults with disabilities participated throughout the year. Some of the adults needed to receive 1:1 or 1:2 ratios of staff to participants for their care. This staff to participant ratio allows the individuals to receive the personalized attention that they need. The arts are the framework for their day. The participants enjoyed community outings, arts, cultural and recreational activities. Monthly community dances and bingo parties hosted by Arts for All, Inc. are enthusiastically attended by participants from other day programs. The haunted house on Halloween is always a lot of fun and is held in conjunction with the monthly dance. L.A.T. (laser art technique) continues to excite participants. There were two private pay participants who attend the day program. Most of the adults participating in the day program are funded through Arizona Department of Economic Security/Division of Developmental Disabilities. Demographics The 2013-2014 demographics showed that 229 individuals were served (2012-2013 had 267 and 2011-2012 had 252) 63 adults (2012-2013 had 65 and 2011-2012 had 45 adults) with disabilities and 166 children (2012-2013 had 202 and 2011-2012 had 207 children). 78 children had disabilities (2012-2013 had 86 and 2011-2012 had 128 children with disabilities). 62% percent of the total number of participants had disabilities (100% of the adults and 47% of the children had disabilities). 44% were Caucasian and 15% were African American with a diverse ethnicity of all others. 37% stated that they were from Hispanic backgrounds. 88% of the total number of participants came from low income homes (94% of the adults and 86% of the children were from low income homes). These demographics allowed us to continue to receive City of Tucson funding, Arizona Department of Revenue charitable tax credit for the working poor and other poverty related program benefits. Fundraising This year was the second year in a row that the Board did not sponsor any fundraising activities. This was the 9th year that we received a large sponsorship from Patrick and Betsy Barrasso of In Balance. They donated $10,000 toward The Patrick and Betsy Barrasso/In Balance Scholarship Fund. This was our 23nd year of funding from Arizona Commission on the Arts. It is our 17th year of funding from City of Tucson. We did not receive any funding from Tucson Pima Arts Council this year. Foundations, corporations, board members and numerous individual donors continue to support our organization. The Boards fundraising efforts included the yearly solicitation letter. Direct Support Professionals Direct Support Professionals were trained and worked in the preschool, out-of-school time, day program, summer and winter arts camps and provided respite and transportation services. They were trained by staff and other community professionals.Marketing Postcards were distributed for one art show at Epic Café and for Clay Plays monthly classes for adults and families. The website was made current by staff members and we continued to use the software that can be used by staff through Network Solutions. We continued to use our HR manual that was completed in 2012. The participant manual stayed unchanged. Brochures were updated to include a com
