PART VI, SECTION A, GOVERNING BODY REQUEST
REQUEST FOR ABATEMENT FROM LATE FILING PENALTY DUE TO REASONABLE CAUSE THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS RELIED UPON A PROFESSIONAL CPA TO FILE THE TAX RETURN ON TIME. THE PROFESSIONAL CPA HAD SOME FAMILY ISSUES (DEATH OF HIS DAUGHTER BECAUSE OF CANCER) THAT AFFECTED HIM AND HE DID NOT PREPARE THE RETURN BY THE EXTENDED DUE DATE. TO CHARGE A LATE PENALTY WOULD BE A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP FOR THE ORGANIZATION. THE ORPHANAGE IS TOTALLY DEPENDENT UPON THIS ORGANIZATION TO KEEP IT RUNNING. THERE ARE NO MONIES EARMARKED FOR PAYING PENALTIES WHEN THE BOARD RELIED UPON THE CPA TO FILE IT ON TIME. PLEASE ABATE ALL LATE FILING PENALTIES AND THE BOARD WILL SEE TO IT THT IT DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. IN ADDITION, THE CPA INDICATED THAT HE TRIED TO E-FILE ON JANUARY 2, 2015, AND THE E-FILING SYSTEM WAS SHUT DOWN. IN TALKING WITH THE CPA, IT APPEARS FILING WILL BE ANOTHER 20 DAYS. PLEASE DO NOT CHARGE US A PENALTY WHEN WE TRIED TO FILE BUT COULD NOT BECAUSE THE IRS HAD SHUT DOWN ALL E-FILING, EVEN FOR EARLIER YEARS THAN THE CURRENT YEAR. THANKS FOR CONSIDERING OUR REQUEST.
