FORM 990, PART III, LINE 1
GOOD SHEPHERD SERVICES, ONE OF THE OLDEST SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES IN MARYLAND, IS A NON-PROFIT RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT FACILITY FOR ADOLESCENT GIRLS AND BOYS, AGES 13 TO 21, WHO ARE EXPERIENCING EMOTIONAL OR BEHAVIORAL DIFFICULTIES OF A PSYCHIATRIC NATURE. GOOD SHEPHERD SERVICES IS THE LAST STOP FOR MARYLAND'S MOST VULNERABLE CHILDREN. THE SISTERS OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD, AN ORDER OF CONSECRATED CATHOLIC WOMEN FOUNDED TO HELP WOMEN AND GIRLS IN CRISIS, HAVE BEEN SERVING THE NEEDS OF MARYLAND'S ADOLESCENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES SINCE 1864 WHEN THEY OPENED THE FIRST HOUSE OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD IN BALTIMORE CITY. TODAY, THE SISTERS REMAIN VIBRANT AND ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS IN THE LIVES OF OUR CHILDREN. GOOD SHEPHERD SERVICES IS DEDICATED TO THE BELIEF THAT NO MATTER HOW SEVERE THE SYMPTOMS, ALL CHILDREN CAN BE REACHED AND CAN SUCCEED IN HAVING PRODUCTIVE LIVES. THE SERVICES' MISSION IS "LOVE IN ACTION" AND RESTS ON THE BELIEF THAT "ONE PERSON IS MORE PRECIOUS THAN A WORLD". GOOD SHEPHERD SERVICES' PROGRAMS FOSTER HOPE AND UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE AND REMAIN AT THE CORNERSTONE OF OUR MISSION. THEY ARE BUILT UPON HUMAN POTENTIAL, INDIVIDUALITY, AND SELF-CONFIDENCE IN COPING EFFECTIVELY WITH DAILY LIVING.
