CO-DIRECTED BY FACULTY FROM THE LOCAL UNIVERSITY AND K-12 SCHOOLS, EACH NWP SITE DEVELOPS A LEADERSHIP CADRE OF TEACHERS THROUGH INTENSIVE INVITATIONAL AND ADVANCED INSTITUTES, AND DESIGNS AND DELIVERS CUSTOMIZED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS IN THE TEACHING OF WRITING IN SCHOOLS, DISTRICTS, HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS, LIBRARIES, MUSEUMS, AND AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS. EACH YEAR NWP TRAINS 3,000 TEACHER-LEADERS, ENGAGES WITH MORE THAN 100,000 EDUCATORS ACROSS THE U.S., AND, THROUGH THOSE EDUCATORS, REACHES 1.4 MILLION STUDENTS.(CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)OVER THE 39 YEARS OF ITS DEVELOPMENT, THE NWP HAS CREATED A SIGNATURE MODEL OF INQUIRY-DRIVEN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT THAT INCLUDESEXAMINING BEST PRACTICES, ENGAGING IN THE DISCIPLINE UNDER STUDY, DEVELOPING STRATEGIES TO MEET THE LITERACY NEEDS OF INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS, AND LEARNING FROM RESEARCH IN THE FIELD.NWP PROGRAMS CONTRIBUTE TO GROWTH IN STUDENT WRITING ACHIEVEMENT. PART I, LINE 2: NWP USES A MULTIPLICITY OF MONITORING METHODS FOR KEEPING TRACK OF ITS GRANT RECIPIENTS AND THE GRANT DELIVERABLES TO ENSURE THAT THE GRANT FUNDS ARE USED FOR PROPER PURPOSES. ONE PRIMARY METHOD IS AN ANNUAL REPORTING CYCLE MADE UP OF FINANCIAL, STATISTICAL, AND NARRATIVE DETAILS OUTLINING WHAT WAS ACCOMPLISHED WITH EACH YEAR'S GRANT FUNDING. IN ADDITION, NWP HAS A TEAM OF PEOPLE ENGAGED IN TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE THAT INCLUDES MONITORING OF GRANT RECIPIENTS' ACTIVITIES AS WELL AS THEIR A-133 SINGLE AUDIT REPORTING. IT ALSO SOMETIMES INCLUDES SITE VISITS TARGETED AT RECIPIENTS NEEDING MORE IN-DEPTH SUPPORT, WHICH COULD INCLUDE ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED TRAINING FOR RECIPIENT-INSTITUTION PERSONNEL.
