Explanation:

Electrical Trades Council, Inc. is a small organization with limited resources for record keeping and accounting. The books are kept by a paid executive administrator who acts on a part-time basis while also working another part to full time position. An extension was filed in May to allow additional time for preparation of the return, however due to work load, and some extenuating health and family circumstances the filing deadline of August 15th (based on the approved extension) was overlooked until 1 week after the 15th. Once the missed deadline was noted every effort was made to compile the necessary information and file the return as soon as possible. A specific calendar of significant dates and deadlines for action on association based filings has been established and entered into the record keeping system that is being used to eliminate this same situation in the future. We respectfully ask that you consider this reasonable cause for reduction or abatement of any penalties. This statement is made with the understanding that, under penalties of perjury I declare that the facts presented here to the best of my knowledge and belief, are true, correct, and complete.
