This letter is in reference to the delay in filing of our Form 990 for the tax period of June 30, 2013. The notice informing the organization of the delay was sent to an old address and delayed arrival significantly to the current treasure's attention. Due to an extraordinary year and events coinciding with our centennial, budgets numbers were far under estimated and required the unfamiliar 990 form instead of the 990EZ. This change is requiring different information that was previous gather for this effort and further research to be done to complete this filing. Our organization requests that the penalty be waived and has made the following changes to prevent future late filings. A new treasurer is being appointed this month and will work closely with the board to ensure this does not happen in the future. The organization has also reached out to multiple accountants to onboard a professional for services in the future to keep our filing on schedule and assist with research and questions. Please understand that we work with a complete volunteer based executive board and sometimes that can case delay which we hope not to burden the membership with a penalty.
