Briefly describe the organization’s mission: THE MISSION OF THE SAINT PAUL CHAMBER ORCHESTRA SOCIETY IS TO PRESENT A WORLD-CLASS PROFESSIONAL CHAMBER ORCHESTRA IN THE TWIN CITIES, DEDICATED TO SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE AND ARTISTIC INNOVATION AND EDUCATION, FOR THE ENRICHMENT OF COMMUNITY AND WORLD AUDIENCES.

ORGANIZATION SUMMARYRENOWNED FOR ITS ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE, REMARKABLE VERSATILITY OF MUSICAL STYLES AND ADVENTUROUS PROGRAMMING, THE SAINT PAUL CHAMBER ORCHESTRA, NOW IN ITS 57TH SEASON, IS WIDELY REGARDED AS ONE OF THE FINEST CHAMBER ORCHESTRAS IN THE WORLD. THE SPCO HAS RECENTLY UNDERGONE TRANSFORMATIONAL CHANGE, WITH THE OPENING OF THEIR NEW HOME, THE ORDWAY CONCERT HALL, THE ADDITION OF A NEW GENERATION OF PLAYERS, AND SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN THE SCOPE OF ITS ARTISTIC ASPIRATIONS AND PROFILE. COMMITTED TO CHAMPIONING NEW MUSIC, THE SPCO IS PRIMARILY AN UNCONDUCTED ENSEMBLE THAT WORKS IN CLOSE COLLABORATION WITH A DIVERSE SERIES OF ARTISTIC PARTNERS. THE ORCHESTRA'S CURRENT ARTISTIC PARTNERS ARE JEREMY DENK, MARTIN FROST, PATRICIA KOPATCHINSKAJA, PEKKA KUUSISTO, CHRISTIAN ZACHARIAS AND THOMAS ZEHETMAIR. TICKETS FOR CONCERTS IN THE NEW CONCERT HALL AT ORDWAY CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS WERE OVER 100% SOLD OUT, AND MORE THAN 94% OF RESPONDENTS TO POST-CONCERT SURVEYS REPORTED THEY WERE "VERY OR EXTREMELY SATISFIED" WITH THE ORCHESTRA'S PERFORMANCE. ARTISTIC PARTNERS IN THE 2014-15 SEASON WERE CONDUCTOR ROBERTO ABBADO, PIANIST JEREMY DENK, VIOLINIST PATRICIA KOPATCHINSKAJA, PIANIST CHRISTIAN ZACHARIAS, AND CONDUCTOR AND VIOLINIST THOMAS ZEHETMAIR. IN THE 2014-15 SEASON, THE SPCO ANNOUNCED THAT SWEDISH CLARINETIST MARTIN FROST AND FINNISH VIOLINIST PEKKA KUUSISTO WILL JOIN THE SPCO AS NEW ARTISTIC PARTNERS IN THE 2015-16 AND 2016-17 SEASONS, RESPECTIVELY.DURING THE 2014-15 SEASON THE SPCO PERFORMED 127 SUBSCRIPTION CONCERTS IN VENUES ACROSS THE TWIN CITIES AND 16 TARGET FREE FAMILY MUSIC PROGRAMS. THE SPCO PERFORMED RUN-OUT CONCERTS AT ST. OLAF AND CARLETON COLLEGES IN NORTHFIELD, MN, AND PERFORMED AT ST. PAUL'S CONCRETE AND GRASS MUSIC FESTIVAL IN MEARS PARK. FOUR COMPOSER CONVERSATIONS EVENTS WERE OFFERED, AS WERE EIGHT LIQUID MUSIC PERFORMANCES, A SERIES AIMED AT EXPANDING THE WORLD OF CLASSICAL MUSIC THROUGH INNOVATIVE NEW PROJECTS, BOUNDARY-DEFYING ARTISTS, AND UNIQUE PRESENTATION FORMATS. ATTENDANCE AT SPCO-TICKETED EVENTS WAS NEARLY 120,000, AND THE YEAR YIELDED THE ORGANIZATION'S HIGHEST NET TICKET REVENUE EVER. HALLS WERE NEARLY 90% FULL ON AVERAGE. THE SEASON INCLUDED EXPANDED COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING, INCLUDING THE LAUNCH OF THE SPCO'S RESIDENCY AT THE CAPRI THEATER IN NORTH MINNEAPOLIS TO INCLUDE EDUCATION PROGRAMMING, AND THE BEGINNING OF MUSIC MOVES, A SERIES OF CHAMBER MUSIC PERFORMANCES AT THE CARONDELET VILLAGE AND PRESBYTERIAN HOMES SENIOR LIVING CENTERS, CANCER REHABILITATION FACILITY HOPE LODGE, AND CHILDREN'S HOSPITALS OF MINNESOTA. THE SPCO ALSO CONTINUED ITS ONGOING PARTNERSHIP WITH THE GREATER TWIN CITIES YOUTH SYMPHONIES (GTCYS) DURING THE 2014-15 SEASON, WHICH INCLUDED CHAMBER MUSIC INSTITUTE, A MENTORSHIP OPPORTUNITY BETWEEN GTCYS AND SPCO MUSICIANS.THE SPCO'S PARTNERSHIP WITH CLASSICAL MINNESOTA PUBLIC RADIO CONTINUED DURING THE 2014-15 SEASON WITH COLLABORATIONS ON LIVE BROADCASTS OF SPCO CONCERTS AND THE FREE ONLINE LISTENING LIBRARY OF SPCO RECORDINGS, AVAILABLE THROUGH THE WEB AS WELL AS THROUGH IPHONE AND IPAD APPS. THE LISTENING LIBRARY IS ACCESSED BY MORE THAN 150,000 UNIQUE VISITORS ANNUALLY. THE INCOME CAN GENERALLY BE USED TO OFFSET FUND MANAGEMENT EXPENSES, OPERATING FUND ADDITIONAL SUPPORT, OR BE REINVESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPCO'S INVESTMENT POLICY. THE SOCIETY BELIEVES THAT IT HAS APPROPRIATE SUPPORT FOR ANY TAX POSITIONS TAKEN AFFECTING ITS ANNUAL FILING REQUIREMENTS, AND AS SUCH, DOES NOT HAVE ANY UNCERTAIN TAX POSITIONS THAT ARE MATERIAL TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS. PART I, LINE 32B: THE SPCO USES UBS TO SELL STOCK GIFTS. GENERALLY THE DONOR WILL CONTACT THE SPCO TO TELL US THEY ARE DONATING STOCK. THEY ARE GIVEN THE INFORMATION ON TRANSFERRING THE STOCK TO UBS. ONCE RECEIVED, UBS SELLS THE STOCK AND SENDS THE PROCEEDS TO THE SPCO. OCCASIONALLY A DONOR WILL USE THEIR OWN BROKER TO SELL THE STOCK AND THEN THE PROCEEDS ARE RECEIVED FROM THAT BROKER.
