| FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION | LOVE IN THE NAME OF CHRIST OF WORTHINGTON'S MISSION IF "TO MOBILIZE LOCAL CHURCHES TO TRANSFORM LIVES AND COMMUNITIES IN THE NAME OF CHRIST." WE LIVE THIS OUT BY EQUPPING CHRISTIANS: INCREASE MINISTRY AWARENESS WITH PARTNER CHURCHES IMPROVE VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT AND TRAINING TO ENGAGE AND MAKE VOLUNTEER/CLIENT INTERACTIONS MORE RELATIONAL EMPOWER THIER NEIGHBORS IN NEED TO LIVE MORE PURPOSEFUL LIVES BUILD GROWING HOPE PROGRAM PROVIDE GREATER OPPERTUNITIES FOR CLIENTS TO GIVE BACK |
| FORM 990, PAGE 1, PART I, LINE 6 | THE TRAINED VOLUNTEERS ARE FROM 19 LOCAL CHURCHES. THEY ARE TRAINED TO GIVE A HAND UP INSTEAD OF A HAND OUT. WHEN INVOLVED WITH THE VARIOUS GAP MINISTERIES THEY ARE TO DEVELOPE A RELATIONSHIP WITH THAT NEIGHBOR IN NEED. THAT COULD BE AS LITTLE AS PRAYING WITH THEM AND INVITING THEM TO CHURCH. WHEN DELIVERING FURNITURE THE VOLUNTEERS ARE TRAINED TO HAVE THE CLEINTS HELP WITH MOVING THE FURNITURE INTO THE HOME AND SETTING IT UP. LATER ANOTHER VOLUNTEER FROM THE LINEN MINSISTRY COULD DELIVER SOME LINENS AND HELP THE CLIENT MAKE THE BED, OR DELIVER LAUDRY SOAP AND HELP THE CLIENT DO LAUNDRY. VOLUNTEERS ARE A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF LOVE IN THE NAME OF CHRIST MINISTRY. COMING ALONGSIDE OF OUR NIEGHBORS IN NEED TO GIVE THEM A HAND UP AND NOT A HAND OUT. MODELING A CHRIST LIKE LOVE. |
| FORM 990, PART III | 2015 EXCUTIVE SUMMARY OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS AT ITS CORE, LOVE INC OF WORTHINGTON IS A MINISTRY CREATED TO MOBILZE ITS 19 CHURCHES TO REACH OUT AND SERVE THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITY. THIS IS LIVED OUT BY EQUIPPING INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS TO ENGAGE AND EMPOWER THIER NEIGHBORS IN NEED TO LIVE MORE PURPOSEFUL LIVES. IN TOTAL, LOVE INC MOBILIZED 93 VOLUNTEERS FOR 1268 ACTS OF SERVICE, TOTALING 3,022 HOURS AND VALUED AT 76,154.00. A LOT WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY THIS JOINT EFFORT. THE LOVE INC CLEARINGHOUSE HELPLINE CONTINUED TO SERVE LOCAL CALLERS WITH A WIDE RANGE OF NEEDS. ON A DAILY BASIS CARING VOLUNTEERS LISTENED TO THE NEEDS OF CALLERS, ASKED QUESTIONS TO GAIN A GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF THIER STORIES, CONNECTED AND VERIFIED INFORMATION BY SPEAKING TO OTHERS INVOLVED IN THEIR SITUATION, OFFERED ENCOURAGMENT AND SUPPORT, AND CONNECTED CALLERS WITH THE MOST APPROPRIATE COMMUNITY RESOURCES. IN TOTAL, WE WORKED WITH 252 LOCAL FAMILIES IN NEED. WORKING WITH THESE FAMILIES WE WERE ABLE TO HELP THEM PROBLEM SOLVE THEIR SITUATIONS AND PROVIDED 534 REFERRALS TO SERVICES (CHURCH,GOVERNMENT,COMMUNITY). MANY OF THE REFERRALS WERE TO OUR PARNTER CHURCHES FOR MINISTRIES WHO PROVIDE PRODUCTS OR SERVICES THAT ARE FILLING PREVIOUS GAPS IN COMMUNITY SERVICES. THESE MINISTRIES, ORGANIZED AND OVERSEEN BY LOVE INC, PROVIDE SHORT TERM ASSISTANCE TO PEOPLE IN VARIOUS STUGGLES AND CRISES. IN 2015 WE OVERSAW NINE GAP MINISTRIES INCLUDING: BABY CLOTHING, BUNK BEDS, FURNITUE, HOUSEHOLD CLEANING ITEMS, LAUNDRY & DISH SOAP, LINENS, PERSONAL CARE ITEMS, WIDOWS MINISTRY, AND RIDE MINISTRY. THE VALUE OF THESE PRODUCTS AND SERVICES TOTALESDOVER 21,000.00. FURTHERMORE, THESE PRODUCTS AND SERVICES ARE DELIVERED BY CARING VOLUNTEERS WHO SPEAK ENCOURAGEMENT AND OFFER PRAYER TO THOSE GOING THROUGH DIFFICULT SITUATIONS. SOME OF THOSE WE WORK WITH ARE EXPERIENCEING DEEPER LEVELS OF NEED. THEY ARE STUCK IN CHRONIC NEED THAT TAKES MORE THAN PRODUCTS AND SERVICES (I.E. "HANDOUTS") TO SOLVE. OR PERHAPS THIER NEEDS ARE LESS OF A PHYSICAL NATURE AND MORE TO DO WITH MENTAL, EMOTIONAL, OR SPIRITUAL STRUGGLE. IT WAS WITH THESE INDIVIDUALS IN MIND THAT WE CONTINUED TO DEVELOP OUR GROWING HOPE: LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM. GROWING HOPE IS A WEEKLY EDUCATIONAL AND SUPPORT GROUP THAT TEACHES SKILLS TO HELP PARTICIPANTS LIVE MORE MEANINGFUL AND PRODUCTIVE LIVES. IN 2015, WE OFFERED THE FOLLOWING CLASSES: BUDGETING, GREIFSHARE, GETTING BETTER NOT JUST GETTING BY, ENGLISH LANGUARGE LEARNERS, AND AFIRMING POTENTIAL. A TOTAL OF 59 STUDNETS PARTICIPATED IN THESE CLASSES. TRANSPORTATION AND CHILDCARE WAS PROVIDED TO PARTICIPANTS AND THEY WERE ABLE TO EARN INCENTIVES THROUGH WEEKLY ATTENDANCE AND HOMEWORK. THESE INCENTIVE (I.E. GAS CARDS, PERSONAL CARE ITEMS, BED LINENS)REWARD PARTICIPANTS FOR THE HEALTHY CHOICES THEY ARE MAKING. WE ARE CONTINUING TO LEARN HOW TO BALANCE HAND-OUTS WITH HAND-UPS AND WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE THROUGH A NETWORK OF CHURCHES, COMMUNITY AGENCIES, AND GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS NETWORKING TOGETHER. WE HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO BUT ARE ENCOURAGED BY WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED SO FAR. WE HOPE THIS WILL HELP US TO CONTINUE TO DEVELOP NEEDED, HIGH-QUALITY SERVICES AND SUPPORTS FOR LOCAL NEIGHBORS IN NEED. |
| FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4B | " IT HAS BEEN SUCH A BLESSING. THE GIRLS ARE SO HAPPY TO HAVE THIER BUNK BEDS AND IT MADE US FEEL LIKE WE ARE TRULY HOME. THANK YOU LOVE INC FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE TO HELP US." |
| FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4D | VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT & TRAINING: WE HELP CHURCH VOLUNTEERS FIND WAYS TO SERVE NEIGHBORS IN NEED. WE ORIENTATE THEM TO THE LOVE IN THE NAME OF CHRIST PROCESS AND TRAIN THEM FOR SPECIFIC ROLES. OUR GOAL IS TO TEACH SO VOLUNTEERS WILL KNOW HOW TO GIVE A HAND UP INSTEAD OF A HAND OUT. CHRISTMAS TREE FOREST: CHRISTMAS TREES ARE DECORATED BY LOCAL BUSINESSESS,WHICH CAN BE DONATED IF THEY WISH. ALL DONATED TREES ARE GIVEN TO NEIGHBORS IN NEED. BEFORE THE CLIENT CAN RECEIVE A DONATED DECORATED TREE THE NEIGHBOR IN NEED MUST VOLUNTEER SOME WORKING HOURS AT THE CHRISTMAS TREE FOREST. THE CLEINT IS INVLOVED WITH SET UP, TAKE DOWN, SERVING REFRESHMENTS, AND GREETING THE PUBLIC VIEWERS OF THE DECORATED CHRISTMAS TREES. THIS HELPS BUILD RELATIONSHIPS AND HELPS WITH THE TEACHING OF HAND UP INSTEAD OF HAND OUT. |
