| Form 990, Part III, Line 1 MISSION CONTINUED | ENSURING ACCESS TO ALL In 2015, Somerset County YMCA provided over $1,500,000 in direct financial assistance and mission-based program subsidies raised through our Annual Campaign, Special Events, Grants and Operational Surplus. Of those funds, nearly $930,000 was used to provide direct financial assistance to more than 525 deserving individuals to ensure participation in YMCA programs. The rest of the funds were used to provide free or low-cost community outreach programs like free memberships for local 7th Graders, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, Special Olympics, Saturdays in Motion, Career Forum, and a wide array of teen and senior citizen programs and services. As the need for financial assistance continued to grow, we were thrilled to have the support of 1,469 donors to the Annual Campaign in 2015. FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT With Youth Development as a key area of focus for our organization, Somerset County YMCA offers more than 300 different programs that help young people of all ages to develop the skills and characteristics necessary to thrive. Children in our programs learn the importance of the Y's core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. In 2015, we served over 9,600 children between 0-17 years of age. Our YMCAs support families with a programs such as quality child care, early childhood education, afterschool and summer camp programs, Adventure Guides, Healthy Kids Day, Family Fitness Fridays, Hillsborough Hop 5K, Saturdays in Motion, Homework Help and Tutoring, Teen Programs and more. All of our youth programs are designed to promote our core values, to deepen family connections and to inspire children and teens to realize their full potential. FOR HEALTHY LIVING From the beginning, our YMCAs have provided health and fitness programs as an integral part of our mission. The list of programs and services is quite extensive and includes a robust variety of fitness opportunities such as group exercise classes, personal training, swimming and yoga, as well as stress, weight and nutrition management. Every wellness offering is designed with the overarching goal of promoting a healthy balance of spirit, mind, and body that improves overall well-being. Our wellness programs offer members an opportunity to enjoy and participate in a community that is based on the development of healthy behaviors and relationships. From beginner fitness to nutrition to programs designed to help individuals with chronic diseases, all individuals have the opportunity to pursue healthy activities and lifestyles, which contribute to a healthier community. We believe that when we all work together with shared passion and common purpose, we can enhance our collective quality of life and deepen community impact. As an organization committed to social responsibility we offer direct financial assistance to financially insecure individuals and families, and we offer free or low-cost mission-based programs that meet community needs. It is in large part due to the contributions of volunteers that we are able to deliver on our cause of strengthening the community.
