| Form 990, Part VI, Line 6 | The Long Island Association is a Section 501(c)(6) chamber of commerce and business membership group that, by definition, has members. Members of the LIA enjoy a wide array of benefits, from participation on active committees addressing the major issues facing the region; to networking events large and small; to major events that attract former Presidents of the United States, as well as other nationally-known and respected speakers; to a variety of unique publications that provide special insight into Long Islands economy. Form 990, Part VI, Line 7 The Association's members are reserved the right to elect those individuals that will serve on the Association's Board of Directors. Form 990, Part VI, Line 11 The Form 990 was prepared by a nationally renowned accounting firm in conjunction with the organization's financial department and was provided to the President/Ceo, the Chairman and the Treasurer prior to filing. It was also provided to the entire Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. Copies are made available to the full Board of directors. |
| Form 990, Part VI, LIne 12 | The Association has a conflict of interest policy in place. Each officer, director, trustee and key employee is required to annually disclose any conflicts of interest that arise by virtue of employment, board service, or position with the Association. The Association monitors compliance with its conflict of interest policy. Potential conflicts are investigated immediately. |
| Form 990, Part VI, LIne 15 | The Association's President & CEO's compensation is determined by the compensation committee of the Board of Directors and ultimately approved by the Board of Directors. Since the President & CEO sits on the Board of Directors, he is required to excuse himself from any discussions related to his compensation. The President does not participate nor does he vote on his own compensation. For the Association's other officers, compensation is determined by the President & CEO and the Finance Committee. |

The Form 990 is likewise published on the internet at www.guidestar.org. The organization's financial statements, governing documents and conflict of interest policy are not ordinarily made available to the public, but, if requested, will be provided at management's discretion.
