| Form 990, Part III, Line 4a | During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2016, BBA met with 832 business professionals at 555 Beale St, Memphis TN for the purpose of assisting them with starting and growing their business enterprises. BBAs staff also met with 579 business professionals at their places of business, to assist them in how to devolop a loyal customer base. A central focus for BBA this year has been, Diversity and Inclusion. BBA has worked in concert with our Partners in Progress The Memphis Area Minority Contractors Association MAMCA, The Mid South-Minority Business Council Continuum MMBC, The Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce, Memphis Tomorrow, The City of Memphis Office of Business Diversity Compliance and others for the purpose of developing praxes, which are Intentional about embracing Diversity. BBA hosted 24 2 per month Lunch and Learn Programs, which addressed issues and subjects germane to Business Owners. We developed the subject matter for the Lunch Learn Programs from the input and feedback of members businesses and other Women and Minority Owned Businesses. Such subjects as, Quickbooks, Factoring, Franchising Opportunities, Diversity in Contracting, Contractor Preparedness, How to win bids and other subjects were the topics at our Lunch Learns. Our Solution Series this year addressed, Championing Diversity.. We built our week of activities around the concept of Diversity as a Business Case. It was enormously successful and well Received. BBA continued to strengthen Strategic Alliances and Constructive Engagement with such entities as The Economic Development GRowth Engine EDGE, Memphis Tomorrow, The chambers Chairman Circle, The National Small Business Administration we met with Commissioner Maria Contreras Sweet , the U.S. Black Chamber of Commercie and the Memphis Better Business Bureau. These relationships help us to serve our member businesses navigate through many challenges and assist them to uncover and pursue opportunities. |
