Return Reference Explanation
Part X, Line 2: The Department and Post 945 are recognized as tax-exempt organizations under the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(19) and, therefore, are not subject to federal income taxes. The Department and Post 945 have been classified as veteran organizations, which are not private foundations under Section 509(a) of the IRC. The Department's and Post 945's open audit periods are 2012 through 2015. ASC No. 740, "Income Taxes," prescribes a comprehensive model for how an organization should measure, recognize, present, and disclose uncertain tax positions taken on its tax returns. The Department and Post 945 believe that they have appropriate support for tax positions taken and, as such, do not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the consolidating financial statements.
