| Form 990, Part III, Line 4a PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS | (continued from Part III) Our reach is extensive and we continue to grow. In addition to the main hospital campus, Grand View offers a range of outpatient services at four convenient locations: Harleysville Outpatient Center, Pennsburg Outpatient Center. Sellersville Outpatient Center and The Health Center at Quakertown. Additionally we offer post-acute care services including Grand View Home Care, Grand View Hospice, Grand View Palliative Care and Grand View Medical Company.This past year our Emergency Medicine Department visits were in excess of 33,000 visits and our Emergency Medical Services transported nearly 9000 patients. With more than 400 affiliated and independent physicians on its medical staff, Grand View offers expertise in family medicine, women's health, pediatrics, urology, infectious disease, gastroenterology, neurology and other specialty areas. Nearly 100 physicians are employed by Grand View Health, including the staff of our medical practices-with over ten locations across Bucks and Montgomery counties. Grand View Health has nearly 2000 employees and over 600 volunteers. In an effort to provide quality health education to the community, Grand View hosts hundreds of health education events, screenings, supports groups and classes. Topics range from orthopaedics, cardiovascular health, eye health, fitness and oncology, family and childbirth education to healthy lifestyle. Participants of all ages, genders, races and ethnicities are encouraged to attend. In addition, Grand View participated in numerous health fairs, exhibits and community events. Grand View employees and members of the medical staff present a variety of healthcare topics to area community groups and businesses. Engagements include retirement communities, schools, businesses and faith-based groups. Grand View also hosts a variety of health fair offerings, free blood pressure checks, cholesterol screenings and smoking cessation programs with physicians and medical professionals. Guests could also speak with physical therapists, orthopaedic surgeons and other related clinicians. Grand View communicates its new services through its website, www.gvh.org, its annual report and Health View Calendar mailings, which are distributed to nearly 122,000 households in our primary and secondary service areas. Other print and electronic projects are continually distributed to the residents in our service area to inform them of the resources available to the communities we serve. Grand View Health participates in a Community Needs Assessment project conducted by the Public Health Management Corporation. This gives us a detailed look at the specific health challenges that face our community. It helps up prioritize outreach, prevention, education and additional healthcare services to meet our communities most pressing health needs. Several areas we identified from our most recent needs assessment include: women's health screenings (Pap smears, Mammograms and Breast exams), annual healthcare provider visits, high blood pressure, binge drinking, childhood obesity, cancers, heart disease and stroke. As a result of these findings we were able to offer educational opportunities to address man of these critical gaps. Our Joint Replacement Center offers experienced orthopaedic surgeons who provide comprehensive joint replacement services for hip, knee, shoulder, elbow and ankle. Patients recover in a specially constructed unit offering private rooms. Advanced joint replacement technologies often result in quicker recoveries and shorter hospital stays. They include minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery, gender-specific knee implants, computer-assisted knee replacement, stationary or rotating platform knee implants, high-flex knee implants and reverse shoulder replacement. Grand View Health provides high-quality, compassionate surgical care for adults and children. Our highly experienced surgeons and surgical staff provide hands-on care using leading-edge technologies and techniques, designed for the best possible outcomes. We offer our patients convenient parking, a surgical short-stay unit and diagnostic testing locations throughout the community. In addition to general surgery, surgical specialties include gynecology, maxillofacial, plastic & reconstructive, podiatry, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, urology, surgical oncology as well as vascular and endovascular options. Other significant services include: Cardiology - medical and interventional, Cardiac Cath Lab, Vascular services - surgical and non-surgical interventions, Neurology - stroke prevention and management and acute rehab services. Cancer services include inpatient and outpatient cancer care as well as Breast Surgery, Surgical Oncology and Interventional Pulmonology. Grand View Health provides full services for Women and Children including maternal fetal medicine, maternity, neonatolgy and inpatient pediatrics and emergency services. We also recently launched a new Bariatric and Weight Loss Program and expanded our Nutrition services with a diabetes program and on-line weight loss program. Grand View Health is affiliated with The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Fox Chase Cancer Center. In addition we partner with Lehigh Valley Health Network regarding cardiology, The Heatlh Center at Quakertown and with our Maternal Fetal Medicine practice. Our community education programs, provide lifestyle tips and promote self-responsibility for the individual's good health. Led by health professionals, these classes feature a variety of topics including cancer, diabetes, heart care, orthopaedics, maternity, women's and children's health, fitness, safety and more. Each year, Grand View hosts hundreds of classes for thousands of participants. Some of the classes included birth and family education, car seat checks, exercise and fitness, heart health, orthopaedics, smoking cessation, cancer and other special health events. In addition to the classes offered, grand view provided nursing and health consultations both in-person and via telephone. We also offer free health screenings including blood pressure screenings, a seasonal flu clinic and community blood drives in partnership with Miller Keystone Blood Center. First aid and CPR classes are also offered. A wide variety of support groups are offered free of charge and led are by hospital staff and outside resources to help people understand and cope with particular problems or illnesses. These groups include: Better Breathers (pulmonary disease), -Breast Cancer Support Groups, Hospice and bereavement support, Driver safety, Car seat checks, Multiple Sclerosis Support, Epilepsy Support. Free-of-charge meeting space, refreshments, promotion and registration services are provided. The Grand View Connection Line provides callers with physician referral service, class enrollment and hospital information. This service is for individuals seeking information about or a referral to a grand view hospital physician or information about other programs offered through the hospital.
