| FORM 990-EZ, PART III | ST. LOUIS PARK FRIENDS OF THE ARTS (FOTA) IS A NON-PROFIT COMMUNITY ARTS ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO SUPPORTING, PROMOTING, AND ENHANCING THE ARTS IN ST. LOUIS PARK. FOTA CONNECTS PEOPLE AND ORGANIZATIONS AROUND THE ARTS, SHARES ARTS-RELATED INFORMATION AND RESOURCES, AND COORDINATES COMMUNITY ARTS PROGRAMS. FOTA HAS CREATED A TRULY UNIQUE ORGANIZATION THAT IS THE ULTIMATE COMMUNITY ARTS GROUP. IT'S ALL ABOUT BUILDING COMMUNITY THROUGH THE ARTS. 2015 WAS ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL YEAR FOR FRIENDS OF THE ARTS: GRANT AWARDED BY MRAC TO HELP FUND A PART-TIME MARKETING & MEMBERSHIP MANAGER TO ASSIST THE INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR IN MARKETING, COMMUNICATIONS, AND MEMBERSHIP. THE CANDIDATE SEARCH BEGAN AT THE END OF 2015, AND WE MADE A HIRE IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2016. OUR PROGRAMMING FOR OUR TOWN 2016 WAS A BIG FOCUS OF OUR BOARD MEETINGS IN 2015. THE ARTISTIC MEDIUM WE CHOSE TO HIGHLIGHT WAS SINGING. WE APPLIED FOR SEVERAL GRANTS TO HELP FUND THE PROGRAM, AND BEGAN TO BUILD THE ARTISTIC PLAN, INCLUDING CONVERSATIONS WITH THE PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS THAT WOULD BE INVOLVED. OUR INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS PROVIDED SUCCESSFUL PROGRAMMING, FUNDRAISING, AND FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. WE ALSO HAD THE HELP OF AN INTERN THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER, AND A NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS IN ADDITION TO OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS. |

GIFT OF MUSIC: OUR GIFT OF MUSIC PROGRAM IS AN ONGOING PROGRAM THAT SUPPLIES ST. LOUIS PARK STUDENTS WITH MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS. WE ACCEPT DONATED INSTRUMENTS-WHETHER IN WORKING ORDER OR NOT-REPAIR THEM IF NEEDED, AND DISTRIBUTE THEM TO STUDENTS WHO MAY NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD ONE ON THEIR OWN. 2015 WAS A BIG YEAR FOR OUR GIFT OF MUSIC PROGRAM: "OVER 21 INSTRUMENTS WERE DONATED AND RE-DISTRIBUTED. REPAIR COSTS TOTALED 2,431. ARTS & CULTURE: THE ST. LOUIS PARK ARTS & CULTURE GRANT PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS ST. LOUIS PARK'S COMMITMENT TO PROMOTING AND INTEGRATING ARTS, CULTURE, AND COMMUNITY AESTHETICS IN ALL CITY INITIATIVES. ALIGNED WITH VISION ST. LOUIS PARK, THE GRANT PROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED BY THE CITY, FRIENDS OF THE ARTS AND THE ST. LOUIS PARK COMMUNITY FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY PRIDE, ENCOURAGE CREATIVE LEARNING, BUILD BRIDGES BETWEEN ARTISTS AND CITY RESIDENTS, AND PROMOTE ARTISTIC PRODUCTION AND CULTURAL EXPERIENCES. OUR WEBSITE BRINGS ARTS RESOURCES AND INFORMATION TO THE COMMUNITY AND SHOWCASES LOCAL ARTISTS. THE WEBSITE, WWW.SLPFOTA.ORG, INCLUDES: INTERACTIVE WEBSITE FOR COMMUNITY ARTISTS AND BUSINESSES; UPDATED COMMUNITY CALENDAR AND SCHEDULE OF EVENTS; BLOG WITH INTERESTING ARTS- RELATED TOPICS.
