Return Reference Explanation
Part X, Line 2: Management has evaluated the Association's tax positions and concluded that as of December 31, 2015 and 2014, it has not taken any tax positions that would require the recording of any additional tax liability, nor does it believe that there are any unrealized tax benefits that would either increase or decrease within the next twelve months. When necessary, the Association recognizes interest accrued related to unrecognized tax benefits in interest expense and penalties in operating expenses. No such interest or penalties were recognized during the years presented. In addition, the Association had no accruals for interest and penalties at December 31, 2015 and 2014. The Association is subject to Internal Revenue Service and state examinations by taxing authorities for the years ended December 31, 2012 through December 31, 2015.

Part I, Line 1b Maine Bankers Association will provide payment or reimbursement of necessary and reasonable expenses incurred by spouses or companions of elected officers and the President/CEO for attendance at meetings on behalf of the Association. Expenses should be reasonable, appropriate, and consistent with the business purpose rules of the IRS. Spouse or companion expenses for board members will be approved in advance by the President. Documentary evidence, such as receipts, must be provided to support any single expense item of $75 or more. Proper substantiation must be provided for entertainment expenses, including the names of those individuals entertained, affliations, dates, locations, and business purpose.
