What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? The primary purpose of Iowa Leaders in Education and Advocacy, Inc. "I-LEAD" is to promote social welfare within the meaning of Section 501(c)(4) of the IRC by educating the general public on the role Iowa's financial institutions play in Iowa and the nation's economy.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 I-LEAD was formed on April 24, 2014. I-LEAD commissioned a study of the scope and size of the credit union industry in Iowa. This study is a social welfare activity in pursuit of I-LEAD's mission to promote the financial services industry regarding how they interact with other competing financial services providers within Iowa.Funding from ILEAD was used to facilitate two statewide "tax day" advertising campaigns in April of 2015 and 2016. These tax day advertisements focused on issue advocacy pieces involving tax differences between banks and credit unions in Iowa, and what tax dollars fund (i.e. social programs, defense, education). This activity promotes ILEAD's tax exempt purpose of promoting the banking industry in Iowa and to promote tax paying financial institutions who contribute to federal and state government initiatives and programs by paying income taxes.ILEAD funded the "Real Iowa Banker" public image campaign. This was a statewide public image campaign using bankers from across the state of Iowa for radio and web promotion of the banking industry. The ads were focused on what local bank employees do for their communities. This campaign took approximately 2-3 months to plan and execute during the September - November 2015 time frame. The campaign was coordinated by the Marketing and Communications department of the Iowa Bankers Association (IBA) and used real bank employees selected from several banks across the state of Iowa.
