Criminal Justice: Color Of Change called out one of the most pernicious cycles of the criminal justice system, the criminalization of debt and the debt accrued through criminalization. As Black communities are unfairly targeted and represented in the criminal justice system, too many people are facing insurmountable debt accrued from court costs, fees, and penalties for, more often than not, minor infractions.

Corporate Accountability: Color Of Change will be focusing on pushing back against corporate overreach in economic policies. Color Of Change will continue our work to identify and expose harmful economic polices driven by Wall St. banks and corporations part of groups like the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). We will also leverage the voices of our members to advance policies and solutions that meet the needs of our communities and act as a racial justice authority to the political left, as its members have yet to significantly represent or fight for the issues and concerns that affect Black people the most.

Media Justice: Color Of Changes media justice project aims to promote fair, accurate, and humanizing portrayals of Black Americans and people of color in the media. We fight back against specific harmful images that we see repeated again and again, such as those that depict Black people as violent, aggressive, and criminal, as well as hyper- sexual, unjustifiably angry, and uncaring. We are focused on shifting and reshaping dominant and harmful media narratives in order to change policies and advance laws for a more equitable society.

Form 990, Part III, Line 4d: Other Program Services Description OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Media Justice: Color Of Changes media justice project aims to promote fair, accurate, and humanizing portrayals of Black Americans and people of color in the media. We fight back against specific harmful images that we see repeated again and again, such as those that depict Black people as violent, aggressive, and criminal, as well as hyper- sexual, unjustifiably angry, and uncaring. We are focused on shifting and reshaping dominant and harmful media narratives in order to change policies and advance laws for a more equitable society.
Form 990, Part VI, Line 2: Description of Business or Family Relationship of Officers, Directors, Et James Rucker, the Board Chair, and Heidi Hess, the Secretary, are married to each other. Both Becky Bond, Board Member, and Heidi Hess, Secretary, work at CREDO, where Becky Bond is a key employee and manager.
Form 990, Part VI, Line 11b: Form 990 Review Process The Chair of the Board, Executive Director and the Finance Director review the initial draft of the Form 990. The final copy is distributed to the board at least one week before being filed.
Form 990, Part VI, Line 12c: Explanation of Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflicts Board members fill out disclosure statements once a year. The Executive Director and the Board Chair(s) track potential conflicts. When conflicts arise they are disclosed at board meetings and the board member is recused.
Form 990, Part VI, Line 15a: Compensation Review & Approval Process - CEO, Top Management Independent members of the board, without the E.D.'s participation, do a compensation review as part of the E.D.'s yearly performance evaluation. They examine published data on non-profit salaries to determine comparable compensation levels. The results of the review are then discussed with the Executive Director and a final compensation recommendation is approved by the Board.
