Mini grants are awarded to farmers who have suffered hardship or farmers who are testing and researching new sustainable farming practices e.g., seeking organic certification, cover crop strategies, season extension opportunities, etc. The maximum grant is $2,000 per vendor. Brenda Langton and her husband, Tim Kane, own and operate Spoonriver Restaurant. Ms. Langton is the Development Director for Mill City Farmers Market (MCFM) and is a non-voting Board Member. MCFM is located adjacent to Spoonriver Restaurant. The two organizations share promotions and MCFM hosts fundraising, volunteer and staff meetings at the restaurant. Ms. Langton was paid a salary of $33,500 and benefits of $1,200 in 2015 by MCFM."
