Briefly describe the organization’s mission: Pennsylvania Society of Gastroenterology was formed in 1982. The Society's purpose is to coordinate the efforts of gastroenterologists in Pennsylvania to secure and maintain the best patient care and the highest standard of practice principally through the study of the scientific, socio-economic, and legislative aspects of gastroenterology; to provide education information to the membership and public regarding gastroenterological function and disorders; and to promote close association among the membership.

	PSG (Pennsylvania Society of Gastroenterology) holds an annual meeting where members and non-member attendees qualify for education credits. The Annual Scientific Meeting was held September 18-20 at The Lancaster Marriott Convention Center. Eighty-seven member and non-member physicians and nurses attended and were eligible for 7.25 CME credits. GI (Gastrointestinal) specific topics were presented each day by leading experts. Twenty-four abstracts were submitted from six institutions and Residents participated in a GI Jeopardy tournament. Thirty vendors exhibited and provided information regarding their products and services. A networking reception was held on September 18 and a networking dinner featuring Dr. Stavas, a physician first on the scene of the Boston marathon bombing, was held on September 19.

	PSG distributes three newsletters to members highlighting updates in the GI specialty, information from the national societies, legislative issues and other pertinent information to keep members informed. The newsletter is distributed to over 1,000 GI specialists.
