Explanation:
We received a notice that our return had not been timely filed, however we have copies of the initial extension through August 15, 2016 and the second extension through November 15, 2016 which were filed with the IRS. We are filing our 990 before the November 15, 2016 extended due date as required. If our filing is, in fact, late, it would be because the extension was not properly sent in -- although our records show that it was provided to the IRS timely. Our organization is administered entirely by volunteers and we diligently attempt to meet all state and federal filing and payment requirements. If for some reason the second extension (through Nov 15, 2016) was not received in your office, WE VERY RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT ANY PENALTIES IMPOSED BE ABATED, as any penalties imposed would greatly impact our ability to serve the United States Veterans in our area.
