WE ALSO ARRANGE MONTHLY MEDICAL WORKSHOPS FOCUSED ON A NUMBER OF ISSUES SUCH AS BLOOD PRESSURE AWARENESS AND STROKE PREVENTION, ELDER ABUSE, MEDICAID AND MEDICARE NAVIGATION, FIRE SAFETY AND DIABETES. WE HOLD PERIODIC WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS ADDRESSING SUCH TOPICS AS BEREAVEMENT AND LIVING WILLS. OUR STAFF MEMBERS ALSO LEAD BI-WEEKLY FOOD SHOPPING TRIPS AND FREQUENTLY ARRANGE FIELD TRIPS FOR OUR SENIORS TO ATTRACTIONS WITHIN THE BRONX AND THE REST OF NEW YORK CITY AS WELL AS SEMI-ANNUAL TRIPS TO LOCATIONS SUCH AS THE POCONOS AND ATLANTIC CITY. THE AQUINAS HOUSING SENIOR SERVICE PROGRAM IS DEDICATED TO ASSIST THE SENIOR CITIZENRY OF EAST TREMONT AND WEST FARMS IN ACHIEVING THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE QUALITY OF LIFE, BOTH IN THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL SENSE. THE AQUINAS HOUSING AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE CHILDREN OF RESIDENTS OF THE EAST TREMONT AND WEST FARMS AREAS DURING THE AFTER-SCHOOL HOURS OF 2:30PM - 5:30PM. EACH YEAR, PROGRAM ENROLLMENT RANGES FROM 15-20 STUDENTS. PROGRAM STAFFS PERFORM SEVERAL WORKSHOPS THROUGH THE SCHOOL YEAR COVERING TOPICS SUCH AS PROPER HYGIENE, NUTRITION, HEALTH AND SAFETY AND LIBRARY SCIENCE. TWICE - MONTHLY TRIPS TO THE NYC PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM FACILITIES ARE STAPLES OF THE PROGRAM. PROGRAM STAFFS ALSO OFFER HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE AND GUIDE PARENTS TO RESOURCES IN THE AREAS OF LITERACY AND MATHEMATICS FOR USE AFTER PROGRAM HOURS HAVE ENDED. |
