Briefly describe the organization’s mission: The Pattaconk Yacht Club, Inc. The purpose of this organization shall be the encouragement and promoting of yachting, navigation and seamanship and to provide and maintain a suitable clubhouse and anchorage for the recreation and use of its members.

	Yacht Club: Safety courses, dockage, and other related maritime and social activities.

	The clubhouse building at The Pattaconk Yacht Club, Inc. 61 Dock Road, Chester, CT was completely destroyed by fire during the Tax Year 2013 (ending October 31, 2014). The club received insurance proceeds totaling $881,168 and spent $274,101 in building expenses, resulting in a temporary, non-taxable gain as reported in Part VIII, line 7a in accordance with IRC 512(a)(3)(D). The new building was be completed in June 24, 2015. An additional $335,388 was received in Tax Year 2014. Building expenses ($257,466 of the $274,101) recorded in Tax Year 2013 were capitalized as Building/Equipment Assets in Tax Year 2014. And $44,921 of equipment assets related to the fire were also written off resulting in a net negative expense of $212,545 (or $257,466 less $44,921). The total realized gain for Tax Years 2013/2014 $1,216,556 represents insurance proceeds in excess of the book value of the building prior to the fire. And as agreed to per IRS correspondence from Margaret Von Lienen to PYC dated Oct. 8, 2015, this realized gain is not recognized as taxable income on form 990-T per IRS 512(a)(3)(D).

Yacht club members include Social Members without dockage rights and Active Members with dockage rights. Both classes of membership elect an executive committee consisting of 10 officers. Elected officers are appointed to a three-year term.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7a	The Pattaconk Yacht Club, Inc. is a non-stock, Connecticut corporation. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7b	Yacht club members approve all significant decisions made by the club's executive board.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b	The Pattaconk Yacht Club, Inc. Audit Committee reviews and approves the financial records of the club prior to the preparation of the 990 form. The 990 form is prepared by an outside accountant, the Finance Committee Chair or the Treasurer. Following the preparation of the 990 form, it is signed by the Treasurer and electronically submitted to the IRS. After filing, the Treasurer notifies the Executive Board. The Executive Board (Treasurer) or Finance Committee Chair then reviews 990 form with the membership including a comparison of financial results with other yacht clubs based on the publicly available 990 forms.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15	The Pattaconk Yacht Club, Inc. is a volunteer only organization. Officers and members are not compensated by the club. The club hires outside contractors or uses volunteers to perform all services. Members may on occasion work for or own contracting businesses, but in all cases services are negotiated on an arms length basis, typically with a minimum of three competing bids. Contracts are reviewed by the Executive Board and approved by the membership. Officers and members are not compensated for services provided to the club.
Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19	The Pattaconk Yacht Club, Inc. By-Laws are approved its officers and members and describes procedures relating to all volunteer activities including steps to avoid conflicts of interest. It also describes duties of its treasurer and related financial reporting functions.
