What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? Promote fairer public policies for low-income Alabamians.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 Alabama Arise advocated for, and won, a second chance for ex-felons. Beginning Jan. 30, 2016 Alabama will no longer deny SNAP benefits (a.k.a. food stamps) to drug felons after they complete their sentence. We also continued our campaign to limit predatory lending. We helped the Low Income Housing Coalition of Alabama seek dedicated revenue for the Housing Trust Fund. We testified on the failings of the Alabama Accountability Act that shifts money from public to private schools.
