Return Reference Explanation
Part X, Line 2: The Union has been recognized as exempt from income taxes under Sec. 501(c)(5) of the Internal Revenue Code and, therefore, no provisions for income taxes has been made in there financial statements. The Local Union accounts for uncertainty in income taxes using a recognition threshold of more-likely-than-not to be sustained upon examination by the appropriate taxing authority. Measurement of the tax uncertainty occurs if the recognition threshold is met. Management determined that there were no tax uncertainties that met the recognition threshold in 2015 and 2014. The Local Union's federal income tax returns are no longer subject to examination by federal taxing authorities for years before 2012.
