What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? To provide high quality local food to the Pittsboro area, to support small farmers, grow local economy, and to create an enjoyable open space for the community to gather.

28 In 2015 we hosted the farmers market for 45 weeks with paid market manager in order to provide a direct retail outlet for local farmers. The market averaged 200 customers per week, and 25 local vendors participated in the market. We purchased advertising from local media outlets and developed and hosted a market webpage and market stall to promote the farmers market to customers. 29 We created an alternative buying arrangement for consumers where high quality fresh products are available at reasonable prices by hosting our market for 45 weeks. Twenty five unique local vendors participated in the market over the course of the season, with an average of 6 vendors per market. Our market manager worked with vendors to ensure quality products were sold, and access to the market was simple and efficient for our customers. Our market manager controlled a Facebook page, webpage, market stall and weekly e-newsletter to keep in touch with our customers about what was available at the market. 30 In 2015 we hosted regular bake sales by community non profits, hosted storytelling events for children, and our paid employee hosted a weekly informational booth at the market with seasonal recipes, local events information and information on the vendors to fulfill our mission of creating an atmosphere conducive to the exchange of information between the original producer and the consumer. We collected over 100 names and email addresses for our weekly e-newsletter to keep the public informed on activities at the market.
