	Food safety training and other educational programs include ServSafe, which is the industry standard for training employees in safe food handling. During 2015, NRA tested 671,367 foodservice managers in ServSafe programs and issued a total of 517,175 certifications.

	Government Relations and Communications: The NRA monitors both Federal and State government and legislation for changes in their policies as they relate to the restaurant industry. Depending on the specific issue, the NRA, along with the State Restaurant Associations, develops an appropriate position and response to the specific issue and works with government agencies/organizations to achieve the best possible outcome for the industry. The NRA maintains and distributes publications on various matters that affect the industry.

The endowment funds are used to provide scholarships, as part of the National Restaurant Educational Foundation's mission to enhance the industry's service to the public through education, promotion of career opportunities and community engagement.

The Organization is subject to income tax on any unrelated business income, net of related expenses. The accounting standard on Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes addresses the determination of whether tax benefits claimed or expected to be claimed on a tax return should be recorded in the financial statements. Under this guidance, the Organization may recognized the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by taxing authorities, based on the technical merits of the position. Examples of tax positions include the tax-exempt status of the Organization and various positions related to the potential sources of unrelated business taxable income (UBIT). For the reporting periods presented in these consolidated financial statements, there were no unrecognized tax benefits identified or recorded as liabilities. There were no liabilities for unrelated business income taxes at December 31, 2015 and 2014. The Organization files certain information and income tax returns in the U.S. federal jurisdiction and various other states. The Organization is generally no longer subject to examination by the Internal Revenue Service for years before 2012.

The CEO is authorized to maintain a membership in a Washington business club for her duties for the Association. The Association shall pay for first or business class accommodations for the CEO if such accommodations are in the best interest of the Association. The Association designates those meetings that are deemed necessary for a business standpoint for CEO's spouse to attend. The Association grosses up the premium payment on the CEO's Long Term Disability policy.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b	The Form 990 is reviewed by the governing body's leadership which includes the following positions: Officers of the Association including the Chairman, Vice Chairman and the Treasurer/Chairman of the Finance Committee, and the Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Board. The 2015 Form 990 was distributed to and reviewed by this leadership group prior to filing.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c	Officers and Directors are required to disclose conflicts of interest annually to the Chair of the Board of Directors. For each interest disclosed to the Chair, the Chair will determine whether to: (a) take no action; (b) assure full disclosure to the Board of Directors and other individuals covered by this policy; (c) ask the person to recuse from participation in related Association discussion or decisions; or (d) ask the person to resign from the Association position, or, if the person refuses to resign; become subject to possible removal in accordance with removal procedures in the Association bylaws. The President and CEO and CFO monitor proposed or ongoing transactions for conflicts of interest and disclose them to the Chair in order to deal with potential or actual conflicts, whether discovered before or after the transaction has occurred.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15	The National Restaurant Association Compensation Committee meets three times a year to review compensation. The Committee reviews and approves the compensation of the Chief Executive Officer, and reviews the compensation of her direct reports. An outside consultant uses comparable data for similarly qualified persons in functionally comparable positions at similarly situated organizations. Contemporaneous documentation of these decisions regarding the compensation arrangement are kept on file. This process was undertaken in 2015 for these officers.
